I wouldn't mind seeing him leave our division!

It's even possible the '13 Dodgers will become the first non-Yankees team since the 1998 Orioles to have the highest payroll in the league.
Meanwhile, note that the Dodgers are in a division that also houses the reigning champs, a tough, high-upside team in Arizona and a "stealth contender" in San Diego. As such they might wind up with something else in common with the Orioles of the late 1990s/early 2000s: a very expensive path to failure.

Family thing. I hear he reached out to ANA too. Trying to get close to home so he can stay in the game.ESPN Los Angeles: Mark McGwire weighing Dodgers' job

#Dodgers closing in on signing Zack Greinke, according to a source. More to come at http://ESPN.com
Jayson Stark @jaysonst
Greinke's deal would pay him slightly more than the $144M Cole Hamels got from the Phillies, making him highest-paid RHP ever.

I wonder the payroll that they can reasonably support. They're already pushing $190M.
Jayson Stark @jaysonst
Pretty much any way Greinke's contract is structured, #Dodgers payroll will top $200 million next year - a first for any NL team.

Pretty crazy. New ownership is throwing money around and hoping it sticks. Also, wonder what it will cost if the Dodgers sign Ryu..that deadline is tomorrow.

Does money even matter to them? The Yankees have nothing on them! The Dodgers have signed Street Fighter legend Ryu to a 6/42 deal. They paid a 25.7M posting fee.

It looks like they'll have the highest payroll in baseball. Their TV deal is huge so no, it doesn't seem like money matters much to them.

Actually, Greinke gets points for honesty. Turns out it was about the money. Big surprise.

Man how do they put a team on the field at 235 million...probably going to have to cut down on the post game spread.

OR it was a factor of things and he doesn't want to admit to off field issues having anything to do with his game.
Really at the end of the day, this contract will take him through the end of his career, does he really care if he goes out there and puts up a 10 ERA every year now? He can go home and wipe his tears with $100 bills.
I hope he does well, he's a much more down to earth guy than he gets made out to be, but he could have been a great example of how there is more to the game than money.
