Not sure if those kinds of moves will continue once they get real ownership.

Hopefully he gets a chance to prove himself. He could be a decent fourth outfielder.

Don't really like Angle's chances of even being a 4th, but should be better in the NL. Ideally he'd probably like to be similar to former Dodger Brett Butler. (Though never figures to be anywhere near Butler's overall offense.)

Did Magic, Stan, and the real owner(Mark Walter) overpay, yes they probably did.

When you see these deals compared to each other, what people forget is each deal is different. Sometimes you are buying the team only. But in many cases it includes a stadium, the complex around it and/or other properties, RSNs(or media rights), spring training facilities, among other things. In the Dodgers case, it wasn't just the team but the stadium as well, partnering with McCourt on surrounding parking lots, and the likely windfall from the TV rights.

But bottomline is this like nearly anything else in business, if they didn't overpay someone else would've. It's what the market will bear and the Dodgers brand dispite the recent turmoil is still strong not to mention being located in the 2nd biggest city in the US.

This is my first year having MLB.tv, so this is the first season I've ever gotten to listen to a Dodgers home game. I'm so glad I have gotten to hear Vin Scully. That man is a national treasure. I love his stories going all the way back to the World War days.

I now try to catch Dodger games late at night whenever I can.

Epic blown call. Jerry Hairston was called out by the first base ump.

At 30-14, the Dodgers have the best record in baseball.

Currently they are:

8th in Runs
4th in Batting Average
2nd in OBP
7th in Slugging
2nd in ERA
5th in Quality Starts
6th in WHIP
3rd in ERA

With all of the attention to Kemp, people are missing the year Ethier is having. .965 OPS, 23 xbh's, 40 rbi.

It appears the light is never going to really go on for Loney at 1st. .709 OPS, 11 doubles, 2 hr's.

Mark Ellis is getting on at high clip at 2nd. Dee Gordon has a .511 OPS in 153 ab's at SS.

Adam Kennedy is starting at 3rd for the injured Juan Uribe.

31 yr old AJ Ellis has more ab's this year (113), than any previous year in his career. The C is having a great year, .962 OPS, 24 bb's, 26 k's. Certainly wonder when his regression begins.

The LA rotation is Kershaw, Billingsley, Harang, Capauno, and Lilly.

Javy Guerra was removed as Closer, replaced by Kenley Jansen.
In 22.2 ip, Jansen has allowed 11 hits, 3 hr's, 8 bb's, with 36 k's.

I sit here at night watching this team and its unbelievable. Their lineup without Kemp is *horrid*. It's Andre Ethier and a bunch of misfits. Two kids of former All-stars (Tony Gwynn Jr. and Scott Van Slyke), neither of which could carry their father's jock. Jerry Hairston? Caesar Izturis clone Dee Gordon? Bobby Abreu who can probably get senior discounts at Denny's? AJ Ellis and Ethier are playing way off their well-established track records.

I don't think it can continue, anywhere close to this pace. Kershaw is awesome but Capuano, like Ellis and Ethier, will come back to Earth. Billingsley is a 3/4 kind of guy. I think with Lilly and Kemp on the DL, the Dodgers will be lucky to still be in first place by the end of the month.

I remember when Adam Kennedy couldn't get enough playing time for his liking on one of those bad Nats teams.

He is about ready to sign a 5/85 deal. He is 30.

He has only had 1 year where his WAR was over 3. He has had a few years of a WAR of just under 3.

They are paying more money per year well into his 30s than he has ever been worth in any season in his prime years.

He is on pace this year to have his best season ever, so there is that but he isn't getting paid the extension this year. Just seems like a poor investment to me.
