The Athletic is reporting that the Padres were willing to max out their bonus pool and offer Roki Sasaki more than $10 million, but we all know how that turned out. The Dodgers probably could have offered a half-eaten ice cream sandwich and still landed him.

Right, now take this comment over to the Sasaki discussion.

Dodgers could have used 2024 IFA but couldn't pull the 6M together.

The most frustrating thing on this board is how you assert that your take on any player's mindset is 100% accurate and no opening for other possibilities exist. I'll take people panicking down a few runs in the 4th inning over that any day by an order of magnitude.

I don't think they did, I think he used his tour to make up his mind about where he wanted to be and took the location and offer he preferred. I think waiting until 2025 shows he wanted to open the search and consider a wider slate of teams than just those with cash left in 2024. I'll buy that LA was his first choice but not that he had made his mind up completely before his tour.
