ESPN: Melky Cabrera gets full share

http://espn.go.com/m...are-report-says

The rule calls for a full share if a team plays 10 games past when a penalized player may return, according to the paper. On the roster for 117 games, Cabrera was due a 72.2 percent share, but got bumped up to 100 percent when the Giants played 11 more games after Game 1 of the NLCS, when Cabrera was eligible to return.

ESPN: Report: Jeremy Affeldt, Giants close

http://espn.go.com/m...eal-report-says

This has to be one of the worst deals ever for a reliever. A multi-year deal of this magnitude for a non-closer. Do the Giants not feel someone in their farm system could do his job at a fraction of his salary. Sabean is big on re-signing his own, as seen by the Aubrey Huff extension after one great season. I guess that's why he has two WS rings and I'm typing this from my couch.

Full admittance I wouldn't have taken Posey in the draft that year. I had him in the mix for TB at #1, but didn't like him for the O's. Partially because of Wieters, and partially because I had all those guys bunched together talent wise, and at that point the SP was a better idea.

I know it's always mentioned that you draft BPA(aside from signability concerns but that's more of a management thing). However, in cases like Derek Jeter (O's drafted Jeffery Hammonds - so they could've done worse) AND Posey, did the existing roster play a factor? I do realize this is also a big hindsight 20/20 post.

I'd hope they would just give a stupid contract to Victorino, but Bourn would be a good pickup for that team. He can cover that huge outfield better than anyone on the market.

The Giants just batted out of order and had a run taken off the board.

1 out, runner on third, Posey came up to bat and drove in a run. Don Mattingly then comes out and tells the umpires the Giants batted out of order. It should have been Pablo Sandoval at the plate. So the runner goes back to third, Pablo Sandoval is out, Buster Posey bats again and flies out to end the inning.

Apparently Posey was listed as batting 3rd everywhere but on the official lineup where he's listed as 4th with Pablo at 3rd. Pablo's line goes to 0/1 with no pitches seen.

Wow... don't see that very often. Geez. Adds fuel to that rivalry I'm sure. How do the Giants eff that up?

Good job by Mattingly to contest that in the right way and get the out. If he goes out there while Posey is still at bat during what should have been Sandoval's plate appearance, then they just correct the error, Sandoval takes over Posey's count, and there is no out. Confusing rule.

With 142 pitches on the book, Lincecum is 1-out away from tossing a no-hitter at Petco Park. Would be the first no-no @ Petco.

Completes the no-no, just a few pitches shy of 150. What a great night for him, as much as he's struggled the past couple of years, and as dominant and elite as he once was. A 2-time champion. Now he adds a no-no to his repertoire.

Good for Lincecum. I've always liked him and I'm glad he's starting to turn it around.
