He's a dependable BP arm. Good chance some of the guys who performed so well last year regress a bit.

$3 million with a mutual option. He gets $2 million if he exercises it and the team declines, $1 million if the team exercises it and he declines.

So basically a 2/6 if he does what everyone expects. Givens in middle relief is fine. Im sure with an injury he will get pushed to more high leverage innings and will be that guy who when the A guys are unavailable will pitch high lev innings there too.

Just saw the 2nd Phelan post. Ignore the first part. I thought he was saying the option was worth 3 mil too after reading the first post.

I'm reading what's in this thread as 2/9 if the option is picked up. If not, it's either 4 or 5 million for this year depending on who opts out.

There is no doubt the walks and the hits are an issue since he was traded. It kinda reminds me of Chris Ray.

The 40-man is already full, so I wonder who goes to make room for Givens. I'm thinking Tyler Nevin, which is a bit ironic considering he was one of the guys who came here when Givens was traded to Colorado.

Lewin Diaz  (this isn't a guess, it was reported that Diaz was DFA to make room for Givens)

Yep, Diaz was cut.  They will probably try to get him to the AAA roster.

Ugh. This guy again. He's not good.

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

I mean, he's a pretty consistent 1-2 WAR as a middle relief option. They could do a lot worse.

No to 2 about it. 1 WAR the last two years. You shouldnt expect more

I mean, he was a 1.5 WAR in 21, he was at a 1 in half a year in 22 in Chicago before the trade to NY. He was only a 2 or higher for us in 17, but usually a 1 to a little more. He's not great, but he's a serviceable arm for the 6th/7th innings.

Not sure where you are getting 1.5 in in '21 or or '22 in CHi. fWAR has him considerably lower than rWAR too btw. Anyway, I agree with your conclusion. Im good with him in the role that Joey K or Baker covered last year.

Roch said he’ll throw BP in Bowie Thursday and may start rehab there. Would be nice to get everyone back.

B+

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

"Now OPS sucks.  Got it."

"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."

"I'm too hungover to watch a loss." - McNulty
