I was hoping for a bigger splash than just a 2nd line C, but I'll take it. Still some holes to fill...like a COACH.
PS. Oates had a 2nd interview this week and off the record is the frontrunner.

I think he'll be ok. He's been surprisingly consistent through his career, but I think they overpaid too. Seems like they are too worried about the now, and not thinking down the road at all. Kinda worries me a bit, but we'll see.

How do you feel about that?
Yeah, good call on Staal.

I'm good with Oates or Kono. I'd like someone with a tie to the org. and it's gotta be someone the current players saw play and respect.
Looks like the other talented russian C might fall to the Caps at 11.

Caps are having one hell of a draft.

It's rumored that the Flyers, Bruins and Maple Leafs all coveted Wilson.

Yeah PHI wanted him BAD, almost traded up for him.
They are having a pretty good draft, but Forsberg and Gregiorinko would have been off the charts.
Forsberg is a big power forward winger, think Knuble in his prime, and Wilson MIGHT be the second coming of Bob Probert...which if you have followed hockey is one of the greatest enforcers in the history of the game. TOP heavyweight, best fighter in the league, but could score 15-20 goals too.
Added some serious toughness in the first round, a solid playmaking (20 goals 40 asst) 2nd line center, so if they can find that high scoring winger to replace Semin's goals, WATCH OUT.

In related news, Thomas waived his no-trade clause after saying he wasn't going to play this year.

Pens got two beasts on D. Not to mention they're going after Parise. Ugh!
They don't have the money for Parise. Too much tied up in Crosby, Fleury and Malkin. They were about maxxed out offering $6m/yr to Staal, and that won't get it done for Parise.
They got 2 good D prospects, but also had to trade away Z. Michalek an J. Staal. Overall they got weaker...winning and losing will depend on what they can surround their 2 stars with, just like us.

AS - Any prediction as to when we'll see Forsberg and Wilson in D.C.?
Forsberg is only 17, and has a contract to stay in Sweeden another year, so you'll see him in training camp next year. I don't know if he's a straight to the NHL player or not, power forwards sometimes need more time.
Wilson will need a year in the AHL I think, just because he's so physical and fights so much he's going to need a little time to bulk up, and be ready to fight guys 10 years older than him. He MIGHT be able to play next year, but I'd probably err on the side of caution, especially because he had a messed up ACL last year.
