Not really.  He got roughly the same amount of money in terms of guarantees (waiting to see exact numbers on first-3 years which is another important metric).  But he's definitely limited his max earnings by holding out.

But he also sacrificed a year of earning potential.  So, new deal should be viewed as guaranteeing him $0 in year 1.  $35M guaranteed in current deal.  I don't remember what was guaranteed in the Pitt offer.

$33M was reportedly guaranteed in the Pitt deal which I believe would've started last year and included the entirety of his 2018 salary as part of the guarantee.

So in that case he still got more guaranteed dollars by sitting out than he would have by signing that deal, even with taking $0 last year.

But had he gotten hurt last year, maybe he doesn't come close to this offer and that was his whole issue.

Now, he should have taken the Pitt longer term deal last year.

Maybe he just didn't want to play for Pittsburgh anymore.

I would like to thank him for giving us the division, though. Mighty kind of him.

You'd think they'd have done this before the draft and the first round of free agency signings.

After four years on the job, the New York Jets fired general manager Mike Maccagnan on Wednesday morning.

Team chairman and CEO Christopher Johnson made the announcement.

"I came to the decision to make a change after much thought and a careful assessment of what would be in the best long-term interests of the New York Jets," Johnson said in a statement.

That organization will always be a CF.

They do have some talent on both sides of the ball.

But they're still in the same division with NE.

But they hired a mediocre coach and now made him acting GM.

NE sure has it good with 3 chronically dysfunctional franchises in their division.

ESPN:

Adam Gase's honeymoon is over. His Jets' coaching debut was an epic 17-16 loss to the Bills, with his team blowing a 16-point lead despite a plus-four turnover margin. The last time that happened in the NFL was 2006. Gase said they were "inept on offense," hinting he may have overloaded the players with information. He gave a blunt assessment of Sam Darnold: "There's room for improvement." He has to get it fixed quickly with the Browns (0-1) coming to town. The Jets can't afford an 0-2 start with their brutal schedule ahead.

No one should be surprised, he was a mediocre coach with another crappy AFC East team.  Darnold's out now indefinitely with mono and Bell might not play this week either.

Another year of Jets football.

Jets trying to trade Bell.

They made their bed they need to lie in it.

No one is going to take on that salary for a 27 y/o RB whose best days are behind him.

First, Quinnen what a idiot.

Second, the Jets already don't have a lot of offensive pieces, why wouldn't they resign Robbie Anderson and then add another big, fast WR in this draft? Anyone understand their logic, or is it just the Jets?
