I hate turkey. It might be the worst tasting meat.
Happy T-Day to everyone though. Despite the turkey tradition, Thanksgiving is probably my favorite holliday now.
There's always ham, and any cousin of bacon is a friend of mine!

Any thoughts on preparing a 27-lb turkey?

Love turkey, can't wait. Tomorrow is just my Wife and I, and her parents. We rotate houses year-to-year.
Pretty traditional menu:
Turkey
Mashed Potatoes
Homemade cranberry sauce
Stuffing
Corn pudding
Broccoli casserole
Pumpkin pie
Apple creamcheese cake
Cranberry oatmeal bars
Some years we do sauerkraut, but didn't make the cut tomorrow.
How do people feel about gravy? Not personally a fan.

Are you having the Sopranos version of thanksgiving? Pasta, meats and then all the traditional food?Always head down to Catonsville, where my 80+ year-old grandmother still fixes a huge Thanksgiving dinner for all 30+ aunts, uncles, and cousins. We're a big Italian family, full of a lot of the stereotypes. But it's always a good time, and the football games are always on. It's nice not to have to travel more than 20 minutes on holidays.

Dark.I also love turkey. Thanksgiving dinner is one of my favorite meals!
Compared to your list here, my family goes with green been casserole, which is one of my favorites. Also yams, but I'm not a fan.
I like gravy.
White or dark meat?

Agree with the dark, although I'll go with some white mixed in.
Well my cousin normally has some good beer so whatever he has pretty much.
Tonight, I had some Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale, Stone/Dogfish/Victory Saison Du Buff, and EVO Jacques au Lantern.
So basically good beer is my beverage of choice.

Cherry and Apple Pie..

Can never have enough white meat, but not a fan of dark.
That's what she said.
Kidding aside, it's all white meat for me.
As for gravy, keep it away from my plate. Don't need that stuff infecting my delicious mashed potatoes and other goodies.
Tomorrow we're going to a friends place for the day so I'm expecting all the usual fare. We're bringing spinach dip for an app, some veggies, some wine, and I'm making some bomb zucchini bread tonight to take.
Know there will be at least one Ravens fan there tomorrow so I'm that game will be on, at a minimum.
Drink of choice tomorrow will be old fashioned's.
Tonight though, with the better half volunteering to go in to the vet hospital for a bit to check in on boarding/sick pets, I picked up an 8-pack of Guinness and the goal is to finish that off so there may be some posts in the Music and Drunk thread later.
