Apparently he already has some offers in hand and could sign quickly.

If he signs quick I bet someone is signing him to be their closer, or a huge market team is throwing closer money at him to be their setup guy (Mets?).

They're my pick to sign him. Clippard was pretty awful down the stretch and in the playoffs. Good call.

Some execs think O'Day's contract will come in well north of Luke Gregerson's 3-year, $18.5M deal with #Astros last winter.

Gotta feel happy for him if that's true. I'm feeling okay with Givens being the setup guy.

Tomorrow might come later than today.

He's obviously getting more than 3/$18.5M.  I suppose the "well" qualifier may prevent this from being a blatant Captain Obvious statement, but it seems pretty obvious to me.

I think he gets a 4th year at this rate.

The Dodgers are pushing for him too.  If they want him, they will get him unless ODay just doesn't want to go there.

Comment From Q-Ball
Darren O’Day…can you predict that contract?

Dave Cameron: I guessed 4/$32M last week. Might end up being low. He might get 4/$40M.

The way he throws, I wouldn't be at all surprised if he stayed good that long....

Yea, I have said this several times. He's as good a bet to remain very good as you will find in a reliever, even an older reliever.

But that's not a bet I'm taking if I'm the Orioles, especially with the payroll being what it is.

Big O'Day fan.

I think he winds up in DC too.

Just another, one of the self imposed Orioles and Angelos rules about not giving the 4th year and not going to high for a reliever, just don't see him in Orange and Black.

MASN: Wrapping up the second day of workouts (with photos)

http://www.masnsport...f-workouts.html

And finally, Showalter was asked about Darren O'Day re-signing as a free agent and his importance to the organization.

"When you talk about people like that, it goes so far beyond his statistics and the contributions Darren makes," Showalter said. "He's got such a pure heart. He loves being a part of our team, and let's face it, we're down here to build a team and Darren's a part of that. He helps us build it by ways other than pitching, and that's been pretty good.

"I know he impacts this team and he makes other people better, and it's not any egotistical thing. Darren's the same guy who walked in here that day from Texas. You all know that. He doesn't change, but he also understands the weight his words carry and he doesn't get malicious about it. He's not coming here and saying, 'Now that I've got this X contract, I've got to do this more.'

"I think he has a lot of confidence in us and we do in him. He's going to have his moments, but he's going to fight through it. He sets a great example every day. This is how you get that type of commitment from us if you carry yourself like this. I haven't seen any signs of him trying to do something different more and that's what I've told him. I just want you to carry on, carry on."
