I just saw he had a pinch hit appearance Saturday. 2 ABs (both strikeouts) on the 17th against SF.
He's 1 for 24 with a .190 OPS since September 1st. Just cut him.

Jimenez isnt being dropped. Nor should he. That doesnt take away from the fact that his time here has been disappointing
And why is that?
He offers nothing defensively or speed. In fact he may be the slowest player on the roster.
He can't hit. His OPS for the O's has been sub .600.
So what does he bring to the team?

A track record better than Rivera's as a hitter
Eh. I'll take recent performance and the ability to play the field over what Jimenez did at the plate years ago.

Well youre gonna see it if Mounty makes it back
I'll be surprised if they demote Holliday or drop Rivera for Mountcastle.

Past tense and at least Rivera can play in the field. But I am not going to argue between those 2. I don't want either one of them on the roster.

Those are valid arguments.
But we're talking about a roster that will have extra bench players because it's a 3 game series.
So, while his limitations are obvious and his struggles are real... he's also a guy with a career .780 OPS.
Maybe if you need another PH deep in a game, you take the guy with nearly 2,000 career ML ab's?
Again, just like Holliday... not a big deal at all if he isn't on the roster.

I've liked what I've seen from Bowman in Sept.
I'd consider keeping him.

I told you Grayson wasn't coming back.

He's close. He could still make it.
If they were able to get through the Wild Card round without him, odds would be that much better about being part of the Division series.
He'll have to have some simulated games for it to be possible.
Doesn't sound like Elias is real excited (he didn't totally dismiss it) the idea of using him as a reliever.
Understand they have to take a long-term view... but if he's looking good in his bullpen's... get that simulated game going.

They need to figure out who would pitch game 3 of the wild card round, and then who would pitch game 1 of the ALDS if the wild card goes 3 games. That's probably Kremer and Suarez in some order - Kremer would probably start game 3 of the WC, but not if he starts game 162. The game 1 ALDS starter shouldn't be on the wild card roster.

Disagree with your conclusion as thoroughly as I can. Suarez and Kremer both must be on the WC roster. Don't worry about ALDS until you get there. If you've gotta burn both Kremer and Suarez to win Game 3 of the WC round, you do it. Povich or BP game or even Burnes on 3 days for game in Game 1 of ALDS are all better options than having gone home. Hell, maybe you use Suarez in Game 1 or 2 if Burnes or Eflin don't have it or if the game goes really long (no ghost runner in postseason so 13+ inning games are possible).

These last couple posts should be a reminder of how useful the bye is, even ignoring the significant chance to be eliminated. No way should anyone prefer to play the WC series and have to do all this worrying about the ALDS rotation.
I think, from recent performance, Kremer has to be the #3. Hopefully they clinch by Sunday and use someone else that day. I agree with Mackus that Suarez would still be on the roster. Ideally you don't need the last couple pitchers in a 3 game series anyway, but if you need length in game 1 or 2 what else are you gonna do?
