Amen. Hyde is way too stuck on the lefty right stuff.Slater will make the roster because you need a third decent glove.
Agree no need for Jimenez, Rivera, or Soto. Maybe Jimenez if Mountcastle doesn't return, but frankly I'd rather have any of our LH bats against a LHP than Jimenez at this point.
Post Season Roster?

Jimenez has to go for Mountcastle.
I am bullish on Mayo long term but I'd keep Jimenez
Unless I've missed something in his recent appearances he just seems too too shaky right now for such a big stage

Yeah hold the Mayo. Hopefully he follows Cowser's example and figures it out next season.

Maybe simply from a confidence / development angle, but otherwise I'm not sure what he's bringing to the table.

Should Holliday actually make the postseason roster?

Nope. Would rather have Rivera right now.

Or Soto if you want a LHB off the bench.

Nah, Rivera.

Nah, Rivera.
We'll already be RH heavy with Westburg and Urias back. Mountcastle a possibility to be back.
Whoever makes it from Rivera, Holliday, Soto is
likely your last guy off the bench so I guess it doesn't matter much.

They will go with at least 14 position players. So I would expect the guys they have today to be on the postseaaon roster. If Mounty is back it is an interesting debate who gets the last spot assuming it is a 14 man position player thing. WildCard round could def be 15 position players to 11 pitchers. The one thing Holliday has is the best pure speed of Soto and Rivera. Alot would prob depend on the opposing teams pitching. How many lefties are in the rotation and BP.
Regardless of who's pitching, why would Holliday bat at all?

Hes a lefty. Hes had some clutch hits. He had a streak for a few days of HRs. Im grasping at straws here. I do think Id take him over Soto as a bat. Not Rivera though. Off the bench of course if needed. Or as a PR. I dont want to see him starting

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t take a playoff appearance for granted. I’ll always value that. And I’ve gotten myself to a point where I’m viewing it as playing with house money. But this season is a massive disappointment at the end of the day.
But there’s little reason to sweat over the decisions on the roster right now given the half assed way many of these guys have been playing for months now. They do none of the little things. And it’s taking care of the little things that empower you to be able to do the big things.

He's been so bad overall (with further regression in Sept), that it would be fine to take someone else.
I'm sure he will put it together next year and be one of the better offensive players.
Part of me would like to keep him on the roster because he is (should be) a piece going forward.
You'd like him there.
OTOH, don't think him being there or not means anything for his development, and even though the 14th or 15th position player doesn't figure to play... it's a post-season roster, so you take the player that is best positioned to help you today if need be.

Being a lefty is fine, but it doesn't do much if you have an OPS in the 300s. Hopefully Hyde doesn't do something like PH for Westburg in the 4th inning of game 1 chasing platoon matchups.

Who would he pinch hit for with Westburg and Urias back?

You cant completely put it past him but I dont think he will do that. At least not with Westy. Urias, Mullins, OHearn even Cowser could be lifted at some points though

Kjerstad rejoined the roster Sept. 15th.
Webb, Coulombe, Westburg, and Urias the last few days.
I'm thinking Mountcastle tomorrow.
That's 6 guys on a 26 man roster (23%).
That's a lot of change from the roster you had Sept. 14th.
Agree that this year has been a slog.
No Bautista, 60 combined innings for Bradish and Means, 15.1 innings from Wells, Grayson being out since July 31st.... Kimbrel falling off a cliff after July.... Rutschman having a poor 2nd half... losing Wesburg for 6+ weeks, losing Mateo.... does help explain things to a point.
The play has been abysmal (for a contender) since the start of July.
That's been tough to watch.
That isn't just about the injuries, but the O's failure to have obtained one high end, high leverage, reliable reliever at the deadline.
Another legitimate starter would have been good too.
Still... they've got a good portion of the contributing team back now.
There is still some (minimal) hope of getting Rodriguez as well.
Got 6 games and 2 series left.
You've lost 5 series in a row.
Play cleaner ball these last 6 games.
Try and win these series.
Go into the playoffs with very little pressure / expectations after struggling for 3 months and take your chances in the limited sample series.
I know it's hard to envision given how they've played for so long now, but it's really not going to shock me at all if they win multiple series.

Is Jimenez still on the team? I'd imagine he's dropped for Mountcastle.
Can change the roster after every series.
The first series is 3 games.
Why not have them both?
