Balt Sun: The Orioles have placed starter Zach Eflin, perhaps their best pitcher since he was acquired at the trade deadline, on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation, the club announced Tuesday. Rookie Cade Povich has been recalled from Triple-A Norfolk to take his place on the roster.

Eflin was such a solid addition. So glad we have his stability for next year.

Great move. Track record of few walks and low WHIP. Exactly what I want from a pitcher. Give me 10 more.

He’s been terrific. Much better than he was in TB this season. Hopefully that continues. We desperately need it to.

Sounds right. But I'm basing that on last season. I'm not sure how he's been pitching in ST, for what that's worth.

Good news! I saw a dog today.

What!? This would be devastating if he misses significant time.

Shoulder last year as well. Even if he bounces back quickly, it probably pushes Elias out on any sort of extension. Wouldn't necessarily be against that decision, just depressing that we land a reliable SP and he turns unreliable within a couple months.

At some point with THIS many injuries you start looking for the piece in common outside of coincidence. Shoulders AND elbows. But it's just too many people down to be just bad luck.

Not just an Oriole problem. It's a baseball problem.

Nah, this is not an Orioles issue. Far from the worst injury luck in the league. This is just pitching in this era of baseball.

Rays and Dodgers are the first teams that come to mind with pitcher injuries.

Hopefully this is just a dead arm period or something similar and he only misses a small amount of time like last year.

Jesus Christ.

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

Means, Bradish, Greyson, Suarez, McDermott, Wells, Rogers, Columbe, Elfin x2, Bautista, Tate.

Now, Bautista and Tate were the first, and from the year before so I prob shouldn't count them, but it did happen. Rogers is a knee thing, wouldn't be connected to any arm issues. And Grey hasn't had to shut down for surgery yet, but HAS had to shut down twice, and it's probably coming sooner or later.

That's a LOT of coincidence. My first thought was Driveline. Dodgers are known to work with them too, but mostly hitters. BUT their pitching coordinator DID use to work for them.

I dunno. It's just a LOT of pitchers from one team going down for elbow and shoulder injuries. Dodgers could be more, I think White Sox have a lot too, they also have a deep connection to Driveline.
