Correct. Stuff is good on all five of his pitches and he has good command of each of them.

Cool. Just first I've heard on him. Should start seeing him pop up on top 100s and under the radar lists soon. I'll have to keep an eye on him.

He's already 26 and about to debut. He'll either stick and graduate from list eligibility or not stick and deservedly not show up on any lists.

Hoping the guy Bob talked to is right about him, we certainly could use the boost. Fangraphs has him as #6 in the O's system currently, so that wouldn't be too far outside the top-100.

He started getting top 100 consideration from multiple places late last season.

And he’s getting his chance here now so we’ll get a good look.

Age isn’t nearly as important for pitchers. I could see him make 2-3 starts, be impressive and get pushed back down by Eflin/Gibson and making a top 100 before eventually graduating. But it really doesn’t matter, he’s on the cusp so will either make it or not.

Biggest issue with Young has been staying healthy. He's been in the organization since 21 and last year was the first year he was able to top 100 IP. I'm intrigued.

Age is the most important factor for evaluating minor league stats.

Scouting is far more important for minor leagues than stat analysis. So I'd listen to scouts if they say his stuff plays even though he's pitching against a lot of guys much younger than him. But how much younger or older you are than your peers is a huge factor in how impressive the production you're able to muster is.

If Raul Alcantara starts for Norfolk tomorrow then it is all but confirming Young will start Sunday for the O's.

The Tides' website lists Alcantara as the starter tonight, so....

I understand that but with pitchers these days they can increase their velo significantly and add/adjust pitches and be a completely different guy in a season or two. That’s been part of the market inefficiency the Orioles have been attacking in the draft when they take pitchers with bad results or “too old” but that they feel they can develop.

Young pushed back to Sunday to better line up with Eflin’s spot in the rotation.

Im guessing Young wont make his debut now. Push Sugano and Povich back a day and Monday is an off day

They’ll still need another starter for Saturday 4/19, so wouldn’t rule that out. I guess with so many off days they could try to do a BP game on the 19th if they think Eflin will be ready within a few days after that, but not sure why. Elias had talked about Young potentially getting a call up last year, and nothing seems to have changed as far as his big league prospect status. If not now, then when?

Young will start the first day someone is needed and get 2-3 starts. It is known.

2-3 starts because Eflin will definitely be out that long? That's a bummer. Was hoping for closer to minimum IL stay.

I guess in a perfect scenario it could only be one thanks to the rainout but we’ll see if they want to give Eflin a rehab start or not.

No need for a rehab start when a guy is only gonna miss close to the 15 day minimum, IMO. He came back without a rehab start last year.

With Young moved to pitch today for Norfolk that could line him up for Thursday’s game and giving Sugano and Povich an extra day of rest.

Zach Eflin said he’s felt good for 1 1/2-2 weeks. Starts tomorrow at Aberdeen. Hopes only needs 1 start #orioles

Seems likely to get a rainout tomorrow. Good news overall.
