I wonder if he asked for Luzardo first. Im also not up on Luzardo's current situation. He may still be on the IL

He was still on it last time I checked, but that was before the deadline. Either way, it's a little dicey cause of the issues he was having, could involve a bigger surgery later, and he's already a TJ survivor. Gotta really worry about the hard throwing guys. He was my top target coming into the season.

This is a variation of the article I read a couple months ago that listed the SP with the biggest risk facing them. Bradish was on the original one I read too, was before he went down.

Explains a lot about the elbow issue. Guys are out here throwing 96-99 when their UCL is only built to handle 91-92. Sooner or later, it's gonna give. Add in guys with hard curveballs or sliders and it ups the risk, as that adds even more torque.

While I didn't like the moves we made other than for Eflin, I could at least see the logic being used by the FO. OK you wanted players with some control and thought you could get something from them. Ok fine. But what I really dislike is them not seeing a move just isn't working yet they don't do anything about it. Such as Rogers. Send him down or if he is out of options then just DFA him. But get him out of here and go back to Povich. As bad as he was still more confidence in him than Rogers. Guy is garbage. Maybe you can do something with him over the winter. But not during a pennant race.

Rogers has options according to fangraphs. If they wanted to send him down I’d be fine with that. If he didn’t have options it’s pretty unrealistic to think they would DFA a guy they traded for 2 weeks ago.

I don't think Cade Povich should be the bar, but I'd lean towards Rogers being better than Povich right now.

Its either continue to trot Rogers out there or go to Povich. We don't have any other choices do we?

Right, and Rogers is a better option today than Povich.

- Should the O's have found a better option than Rogers?

- Is Rogers enough better than Povich, and Irvin, and at the time Suarez to spend assets to obtain?

Those are different questions.
But with Suarez back in the rotation, and Irvin gone... it is Rogers or Povich, and I do think Rogers is better today... only very slightly though.

Irvin is still in the org right?  Of the 3 (Rogers/Irvin/Povich) I'd rather have Irvin right now.  He's a least shown periods of decent pitching for us, as awful as he was prior to demotion.

Rogers isn't enough of an upgrade to spend two bullets on, even if they weren't gold plated bullets.

Good news! I saw a dog today.

The sad part is here we are in a pennant chase and having to discuss which of two lousy options is better....lol

As someone mentioned earlier, you might as well just keep Povich or McDermott in the rotation and keep the prospects for a possible package in the off season.

You are correct.  I missed that he accepted the the outright to Norfolk.

Irvin probably looked at Rogers' savant page and saw his best path back to the majors was to stick with the O's organization.

Give me Swirvin Irvin over Rogers.

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

Certainly fair to criticize the Rogers deal thus far, but in an equally SSS the Eflin deal looks like a stroke of genius.

With BAL, 4-0, 2.13 ERA, 2.98 FIP, 182 ERA+.  So far, probably the best move of the deadline.

Yup. Rogers has been bad so far but so has Fedde. Obviously SSS. There just wasnt much out there on the SP market. So far,  Elias has a big W for Efflin. Soto has been bad but Dominguez has been solid. The two bats who were acquired for nothing have been solid. Not sre how anyone is complaining. At worst the deadline moves have been a C grade. I still have it at a B. Eflin has been a godsend and Dominguez has brought stability to the back end of the pen

Hate to think of where we’d be without the Eflin trade. Probably looking at a rotation of Burnes, Suarez, Kremer, Rogers, Irvin.
