10-0 Norfolk after the top of the 1st. Kjerstad and Stowers homered. This is getting out of hand.

Funny thing is we gave up 4 in the bottom of the inning. Our pitching has been pretty bad down there. Just hasnt mattered.

How does roboumps make hitters so much better. Big side eye to that. The AAA pitching has to be particularly bad or behind the hitters.

I think it's safe to say that both things can be true. This Tides lineup is as stacked as they get. So yeah, it makes sense to think most of that lineup is ahead of the pitching they face.

That said, if you don't need to worry about an ump's expanded zone and you can focus on the actual strike zone? How does that not benefit the hitters over the pitchers? Hell, Moose, Maddux, Glavine, et al all lived an inch or an inch and a half off the black, and they made millions doing it.

The median team OPS in the IL is .699.

The Tides are 1.189.

The other 19 teams range from .866 to .578.

Gonna be pretty embarrasing if they blow a 10 run lead in a game. Everyone is talking about the offense and rightfully so but the D has been god awful as well. Thats contributing to the high run totals they are allowing

Yes, those numbers aren't sustainable. And yes, they may be feasting on a run of subpar pitchers so far. But c'mon, how many AAA lineups feature as many as 4 Top 100 prospects (depending on who is rating them) plus a guy in Stowers who has proven plenty that he mash AAA pitching? This shouldn't be all that shocking and lead to juiced ball discussion.

Norfolk pulled it out in the 10th, 11-10. After putting up 10 runs in the 1st they only had three hits the rest of the game. They were also pretty patient tonight, walking 10 times.

Tides tonight....13-1  17 hits and 10 walks....all 9 guys in the lineup OPS > 1.080.

When Burdick, Maton, McKenna and Handly are all OPSing > 1.000.....something has to be going on.  Crazy.

Was cute how Norflolk won 7 of their first 8 beating up on the worst team in the league by far  THey've now lost 5 in a row  getting beatdown at home by the Yankees Scranton team. In particular the pitching at Norfolk seems to be an issue

Povich off to a great start, still high on McDermott (RH DL Hall), and I think Albert Suarez, Charles, and Vespi can help the ML team but yeah other than that no bueno.

Edit: there are some other guys I think can still develop but probably not in time for this year.
