Anyone else worried at how hard KC is prepping for Baltimore, while we rest all our starters?

Does it really matter. They just have our number

Not at all. I would rather avoid the possibility of injuries than gamble on a meaningless game. If the Chiefs sustain any major injuries they will be crucified.

But yes Chris, I do wish we would play our starters some in preseason.

We are always rusty game 1, which is fine against the Jets and Texans, but against them we’ll probably lose. Anyone predicting records will put an L @KC so it’s not the biggest deal, though you always want head to head tiebreaks. If we’re healthy we should be right there in December even if we start 0-1.

But yeah, after the 2021 preseason I'm still good with resting starters in preseason.

Yeah, getting starters hurt in the pre-season is just brutal. But there's a balance. You can't give away games either.

That said, hopefully their hangover from the pre-game celebration and hoopla can balance out our rust. I'm expecting a competitive game. The way last season ended, you better be ready.

Did a little digging into last preseason. Reid took a similar approach, played starters a little in the first preseason game, about a half in the second game, and sat them the third game. Meanwhile the Lions sat most of their starters for all three preseason games.

Week 1 result:

Lions 21

Chiefs 20

Not at all concerned about snaps in preseason games having an influence on the outcome.

I thought I'd share this story.

I was at the grocery store last weekend, at the butcher counter. The guy in front of me saw my Ravens shirt and asked how I thought they'd do this season. For context, he was a Cowboys fan. I shared my thoughts, and he said, "They're hands down the most talented team in the NFL".

A little love from a Dallas fan

I mean, aside from a lot of uncertainty with the OL and pass rush.... I'd agree.

I actually think the Ravens will win. They're an excellent team when there are no real stakes. They'll save the egg-laying for the playoffs.

Chiefs aren't playing starters because they open with the Ravens, that's just their philosophy.  I personally think you should give the starters a few series in the preseason.  It helps kick the rust off and get timing down.  You can't get your timing down in camp.

Now if someone gets injured, you get crucified.  But is it really a difference?  Ravens rested their starters all preseason last year and Dobbins got injured 1st game last season.  Injuries can happen any time.  QBs have gone down for the season in the first game.  It's luck of the draw.

I would rather have my starters a little more in tune by giving them a few series in the preseason then hold them out to see their first action in game 1.  Of course I would have strict orders on Jackson not to run, and you go down to avoid a hit on a sack possibility.  I just want them to get a little game action.  Ravens came out sluggish last two years but they were playing the Jets and Houston.  Houston ended up good, but it was Stroud's first game.  Come out sluggish in KC and they might not be able to overcome it.

A day after giving people shit for talking smack on the team in this city that actually hasn’t won a title in (most of) our lifetimes. Good stuff.

I feel how I feel about the respective teams. I'm not obligated to feel the same way about them both, nor is me saying I expect the Ravens to do what they have consistently done in the last five years anywhere close to the hyperbole of saying Gunnar sucks, we should trade Adley, and to fire Elias.

Look, it's very clear that me commenting on something Pedro said has you all riled up, but I have no idea why. I never even "gave him shit." I never said being negative was bad. He has the right to say and think anything he wants. You and he and whoever else can feel however you want about me over my views on sports. Go nuts. I just find double standard of who's allowed to express negativity around here super weird.

Regardless you're being aggro over literally nothing.

It’s hypocrisy at its finest. You don’t like when people give you shit for feeling how you do about the best sports franchise many of us have had the privilege to call our favorites, but you feel comfortable talking shit on people frustrated about our beloved O’s playing mid-baseball for a couple months now. I think people can fan how they want. It’s the hypocrisy that drives me nuts.

Slide is the most toxic poster on this site. And he ain’t leaving.

Just gotta deal with it. Like taxes and a bad case of the clap.

I literally did not talk shit. I said I didn't want to hear people go off on me being negative when they say some of the things they say. Hypocrisy bothers you? Does it really?

You are absolutely right - people can fan how they want. I've never shit on anyone for being negative - that's a thing other people did. But if you want to talk hypocrisy, the shit I take for having negative views that aren't even as extreme as the negative views of others is silly. Y'all are the ones who view "being negative" as an insult. For all I care everyone can be as negative as they want - it doesn't bother me. With that said, you know as well as I do that there's a double standard. It's just one yoh are okay with.

That's cool. I'm not gonna get personally offended by words on a sports message board posted by people I don't know. Just don't pretend like the same standards are held to everyone, because they very much aren't.

Still can't believe people take posts on a forum board so personally.  Especially when it's just an opinion about the Ravens or Orioles. I think there's a lot of long-time members here who are hyper-sensitive about selective criticism.  And there is a fairly strong level of double standards going on.  I get it, you guys have been on here forever, probably know each other's names.  Maybe even hang out occasionally.  But really, if you stand back and objectively look at how upset you get because someone posts something negative, you'd have to admit it's pretty silly.  Absurd, really.  If you don't like a post, why do you comment on it?  Just move on to another post that you agree with and interact with that member.  You guys get yourself all upset about something that's unimportant and has zero impact in your lives.  I hope you face actual challenges in daily living a lot better than you do here.

I'll be in Matera, Italy for the first game. It'll be coming on at 2 AM over there. I'll wake up and check the score and regardless of the outcome, go on about my day.

Have fun agonizing over this one. I really don't care what happens. I'll be at The Bank on 9/15 ready to go, though.

One thing I agree with Slide on is "it's time to show me a title."

This season is going to be fun I am sure, but it's time they show me a ring. They've had 2 dominating seasons with Lamar as MVP and failed to make it to the SB.  It's time they stop beating themselves and get over the hump.

I'm getting there with the Orioles, too.

Regular season wins are great and all, and so are division banners but it's time to bring home the trophy. Nothing wrong with expecting championships and having a hard time getting all excited about moral victories.
