Great, and also deflating that a blockbuster class places us 9th in our own conference. Lol

That’s what adding the likes of USC and Oregon to your conference will do. MD will happily cash the bigger checks.

It is kind of weird to see Rutgers (6th in B1G) killing it, at least by their standards.

Significant news for the 2025 recruiting class. As part of the House v. NCAA settlement, roster limits will be changing in nearly all sports. Overall roster sizes will decrease, but scholarship limits will increase.  For football, roster sizes will be limited to 105 players overall, down from 125, but all 105 players can be on scholarship, up from the current 85 player limit. Given that MD seems to lean a little more towards HS recruits vs the transfer portal, I’d expect this recruiting class to grow significantly.

Note: Much like the NFL, teams will be allowed to exceed roster limits during training camp by certain amounts via non-scholarship players, but will have to be down to the 105 player limit by the time the games begin.

Another note: This won’t mean the end of walk-ons per se. Schools who choose not to, or can’t afford to increase scholarships by 20 (and Title IX still applies, so you have to bump scholarships in women’s sports too), can still fill out their rosters with walk-ons. I’d think the expectation is that UM, with its ever-increasing flow of Big Ten money, would want to be at the full limit. I’d still expect them to keep a couple scholarships open during training camp and award them to the top performers among walk-ons when the season starts, like they currently do.

3-star DL Donta Simpson (Hollywood, FL) has committed to Maryland. He had offers from Illinois, Minnesota, N.C. State, and West Virginia, among others.

Simpson has de-committed from Maryland, and is headed to Miami (FL).

College football recruiting is the dumbest process. I can't believe these coaches and coordinators can do this without being driven to alcoholism.

They should just report as Player X has committed (for now) to School Y.

Haven’t seen any indication he’s related to John, but they did attend the same high school in VA Beach.

Highest-ranked offensive lineman that Maryland has landed in 10 years. Now the 26th-best class in the country, 9th-best in the conference.

Locksley has put together some impressive recruiting classes over the years, but this is shaping up to be his best. He’s absolutely killing it on the trail this cycle.

Maryland’s class jumps into the Top 25 at #23 nationally, and now sits at #8 in the conference.

Never doubted his recruiting chops — he’s excellent. The in game coaching/adjustments etc is where he needs work

3 straight years of winning a bowl paying off for improved recruiting would be nice if it keeps up

But he'll probably also pick some up.  He always seems to pull a rabbit or two out of the hat on signing day.

CFB recruiting is like watching the condiment races back when they were on the Jumbotron. If you’re not into the chaos and suspense, just look up at the very end to see who won.

Heard EBay is going to buy the naming rights for the national title, cause these days, with the NIL and transfers, you wait til the last 30 seconds and make the highest bid.

Ha, that's actually a great analogy.  And exactly how I tend to treat CFB recruiting.
