Washington has officially committed to Maryland. Mike Locksley has his quarterback of the future.

247Sports ranks Washington as the 14th-best QB in the country, and the 3rd-best player in the state of Maryland.

Malik Washington continues to rise in the recruiting rankings. 247Sports now ranks him as the 5th-best QB in the country, and the 2nd-best player in the state of Maryland. He’s also now ranked as a Top-50 player nationally.

3-star DL Asaiah Hammond (Towson, MD) and 3-star LB Alijah Hammond (Towson, MD) have both committed to Maryland. The twin brothers are Calvert Hall products. Asaiah had offers from Boston College, Pittsburgh, South Carolina, and Virginia Tech, among others. Alijah had offers from Charlotte, Delaware, and Kent State.

Maryland's 2025 class now ranks as the 24th-best nationally, 8th-best in the conference.

Amid reports that Michigan have been sniffing around Malik Washington, he doubled down on his commitment to Maryland on Twitter yesterday. He's expected to sign his NLI during the early signing period, which begins on December 4th.

He not gone.

Malik Washington has officially signed his NLI, and becomes Maryland’s best high school QB recruit in decades.

A few hours in, and no Signing Day surprises yet. Maryland officially lists Messiah Delhomme as a safety, as expected. Zymear Smith is still listed as an athlete, with the ability to play running back, wide receiver, or defensive back at the collegiate level.

Additionally, running back Bud Coombs is expected to play as an outfielder for the baseball team in addition to football.

IMS: After signing with Maryland football, Malik Washington talks Terps' future, DMV pride and Derik Queen

It was expected, but Jeff confirms here that Washington will enroll early and be on campus starting next month. With Billy Edwards, Jr. expected to return, they'll both compete for the starting quarterback job during spring camp.

Developing situation involving 4-star OL Jaylen Gilchrist. He’s one of only a handful of recruits not to sign their NLI yet, with Georgia and South Carolina sniffing around him the last couple months. Last I heard he was still solid to Maryland, but something to keep an eye on.

Well, I spoke too soon. Gilchrist has officially signed his NLI with Maryland.

Maryland finishes the Early Signing Period’s first day with the #27 class in the country (#9 in the conference).

Just three commits have yet to sign their NLIs, the Hamond twins and Braheem Battles. I haven’t heard anything on them yet, could simply be sorting out academics or may not be signing until the spring.

Malik Washington has been named as the 2024-25 Gatorade Maryland Football Player of the Year. He's the first player in Archbishop Spalding High School's history to win the award, and the first Maryland recruit to win it since Demeioun Robinson in 2020-21.

4-star EDGE Zahir Mathis (Philadelphia, PA) has committed to Maryland, following a late push ahead of National Signing Day. He had been committed to Ohio State, and chose the Terps over Florida State earlier today. He's ranked as the 12th-best EDGE in the country, and the 3rd-best player from the state of Pennsylvania.

Maryland now has the 21st-best recruiting class in the country, 6th-best in the Big Ten.

With National Signing Day officially drawn to a close, Maryland finishes with the 25th-ranked high school recruiting class for 2025. This was Mike Locksley's highest-rated class since 2021, and slots in at 8th-best in the conference just behind Nebraska and Washington.

Their ten-player transfer class currently ranks 31st nationally, though there could still be additions made there before the season begins.

Should be more additions in the transfer class.
Lost around 20, added 10. Should have room and opportunity to present.

And with the Freshman, get them on the field. There is no development at this point, just year to year. Camp should just be open competition everywhere.

They were always going to lose more than they brought in during this cycle due to the new scholarship cap. I haven’t done the math, but at most I’d expect one or two new additions.
