I wouldn’t be excited as a fan, but maybe they just like him cause he came up with them.
The fans' reaction was really the main point of my comment. Some fans shared the "Welcome home, Craig" sentiment. But judging from what I've seen, they seem to think they're getting that guy who use to pitch for them.
Side note, James McCann also took a minor league deal with the Braves
