Elias is supposedly "file and trial". The exceptions to that were Mancini and Means who both signed multi-year extensions (or at least paper extensions in Mancini's case). I can't recall if he's signed any straight one-year deals after the deadline.

I feel like it happened last year after someone filed. I could be wrong though

Yep, Voth last year, though I guess it included an option so wasn't strictly a one year deal.

But I would say file and trial isn't necessarily a certain thing for Elias, even if it was a few years ago.

I think they are saying it's what they do, but they are allowing the nuance of "mutual option" or "team option" to circumvent the policy.

Just to update for current numbers, I have replaced the remaining ARB cases at the player number (so, kind of a worst case today although the actual ARB delta is under 2M combined).

Note that 76.4M number includes 4M to Bautista (1.0), Irvin (2.0) and Webb (1.0), not included in 26-man.

And I bet if Webb agreed to defer it to 2047 they'd gladly meet him at 1M.

So Mize asked for $840k and was offered $815k. He's only asking for $100k over the league minimum. I get that the guy hasn't thrown a pitch in nearly two years, but $25k is petty.

$1.2M for Perez with a team option for 2025.  Team option is $2.2M plus escalators that could take it to $3.1M.

Another example of Elias reaching an agreement after exchanging number, but only if the deal is for more than just the coming season (or at least an option).

$2.3M for Coulombe. 2025 team option for $4M. The option has a $100k escalator once he reaches 50 appearances and per appearance escalators that can raise the total up to $4.925M if he pitches in 65 games.

The option replaces a FA year, not a controllable season.

I've been doing this thread for a number of years and this is my favorite update ever, by a lot.

Added Corbin Burnes

Burnes had agreed to a 1 year, 15.6375M contract in his final year of team control with the Crew.

Hays wins his arbitration case. Will make $6.3M this year (O's offered $5.85M).

He deserved it. Had a rough couple of months in the 2nd half but had a solid year overall.

O’s avoid arbitration with O’Hearn, one year deal with a club option for 2025.

Was OHearn Arb 2 or Arb 3. Did we ever figure that out for sure. The club option makes me think he was Arb 2.

I'm OK with it. I was always skeptical but he's consistently hitting the ball hard with very above average exit velocities and barrel percentage. Hopefully whatever adjustments he's made since coming to Baltimore continue to work.

If he turns into a pumpkin he should be easily dropped.

Meh. Its a 7.5 mil option for whats likely going to be a platoon bat. So I dont think the arb-2 or arb-3 factors in a all. Everyone still saying he was Arb3. Option prob wont be picked up but there is no buyout so good on the Os for getting a no risk option on him for '25 should he hit really well this year
