I think that is true but it is also true that, right now, when every game counts I would rather have Hicks or even McKenna in the lineup. The guy should take what he learned up here, feast on triple A hitting, and maybe be ready to contribute when the rosters expand or compete for a roster spot next spring.

If Cowser is having good ABs and driving the ball to all fields again in AAA, he should be back up later this season if/when the injury bug strikes.

The only other possible moves would have been to DFA Hicks or Mateo. Optioning Cowser provides the most roster flexibility.

Agree. Or if Hicks, Mateo, O'Hearn or Mountcastle hit the skids over the next few weeks.

I think it was the right time for a demotion but don't think he should be buried with no hope of returning. Still time to earn his way back and contribute. But if there is no need, then it's that much harder.

What? Compared to Cowser with his sub .500 OPS. Talk about dead weight.

Cowser had a miserable debut.

He didn't display one outstanding tool and he looked overwhelmed.

I sincerely hope He's better than he showed.

Quite frankly, I prefer the guy with somewhat of a track record over someone with untapped "upside" at the MLB level.

I mean, this team is playoff bound.

I've got this game in surround sound, and whenever there's action in the field, the field mics mess up the 'field' where all sound is thrown forward.

 

Not like any other ballpark I've watched the O's in this year.
