You guys want trivia do you. Name the Orioles who have had qualified .300+ BAs in a season this century. Remember qualified. To be somewhat tricky Im counting anyone who was traded but still qualified for a batting title. Yes, thats a hint
Tejada x3, Markakis x2, Huff, Hanser, Conine, Roberts, Javy, Mora.
Not sure about the traded player.

I hope they bring up how the team was just a few million away from having Manny on a reasonable extension. I think the rest of the game would be shown silent without announcers.
Is it really all that surprising though that Manny leads a team full of self-absorbed players, angling for a record of perhaps a dozen games under their pythagorean W/L record?

IMO old news. Too much good stuff going on to worry about 2018.

If I would have told you months ago that the Orioles would be in 1st place in the East in mid-August and Aaron Hicks would replace Colton Cowser on the roster and it'd be a rational move, your brain would probably explode
I disagree with the premise that it's a rational move.

Hicks had an .858 OPS in June, but hit to the tune of a .637 OPS in July. If he hits like the former, then he's the obvious choice. If he hits like the latter? He's dead weight without the upside.

What? Compared to Cowser with his sub .500 OPS. Talk about dead weight.

Cowser's upside is far greater than Hicks. I mean, that's not even a serious question. The only question is when Cowser is able to unlock it.
I read somewhere that he's been one of the most unlucky hitters (BABIP) since being called up, but yeah, he has some things to sort out.

And a defensive liability. I hope he gets it together but man, he's got total bust written all over him.

I’ll be there tonight, perfect weather out here as usual. My second game of the year (saw them beat the Yankees in NY in May), looking forward to it!
Hope you bring them good mojo.

We'll see.
If you're calling him a bust, you're basically calling out Elias and co for taking such a chance with the fifth pick of the 2021 draft.
The kid is going to be a solid MLB player with a lot of upside.
