Im saying losing him is not necessarily some huge loss for them. Certainly not in the clubhouse.

The Rays are all over the slumping Giants, 8-1, in the eighth. The Yankees got hammered by the Braves, 11-3, in Atlanta. Two more homeruns for the Braves, this time against the Yankees' Clarke Schmidt, who pitched like, well, something that sounds like "Schmidt."

The Mariners coughed up two runs in the bottom of the ninth to lose to the Royals, 7-6. Imagine where they might be if they hadn't traded their closer.

That decision, without having an adequate replacement ready to go, has immediately cost them valuable games. It’ll likely sink them TBH. I don’t see Houston, Tampa or Toronto slowing down ahead of them.

The clearly thought they had their Bautista with Muñoz, but his tenure is off to a very rough start. I do like him longterm for them though. Interesting decision though there by Seattle who is only a couple out of a playoff berth and played their best baseball down the stretch last year to end their playoff drought. Guess they didn’t want to make it a trend.

Its a damn shame if they both miss the playoffs.  I am sure ESPN will televise their off season golf league.

Gunnar has a 3.5 WAR vs Jung's 2.4 WAR. I get the #s are comparable, but it really should've been Gunnar's award anyway.

 

If Brown goes nuts with a half dozen QS to help overtake Texas to win the ALW - you could see some dumb votes, but this should be Gunnar's aweard. 

Back in June when he was just getting going and his odds were long I made a Baltimore homer parlay.  Gunnar for RoTY and Lamar for MVP.

Muñoz came on for Seattle with 1 out in the 8th and the Mariners up 8-5. A cool 42 pitches, 2 hits, 2 walks and 3 runs (the 1st runner of the 9th for KC reached via error so all runs were unearned) later he blew yet another save. Their pen has been a disaster since they traded Sewald.

If Seattle loses tonight, it’ll be their 4th consecutive loss, each of which will have come in the opposing teams final AB.
