Big money for a 14th rounder.
Young for the class, was set to transfer to ECU and raise his profile. Projectable.

Bragg signed for $100k, just over half of slot. Their 11th, 12th, 13th, and 16th picks all signed for $150k. 17th for $100k and 20th for $30k.
Baumeister, Lott (15th), Witt (18th and Ritchie (19th) remain unsigned. Lott and Witt already announced they're not signing.
With $350k of the pool going towards Forret, they have a surplus of $331,900 against their pool. And another $527k they can offer by paying the $75% tax (reduces to only $465k if Baumeister doesn't sign).

Orioles will come away with one of Baumeister or Ritchie. Both would be ideal but Baumeister would be better than Ritchie IMO.

Do we lose the pick if Baumeister isnt signed??
No, we’ll get compensation for it next year.

You'd think they'd do their due diligence with regard to medical stuff before drafting. Maybe that's not possible.
Would have to be voluntary from the players side from what I understand and I doubt they had much contact with a 3rd round pick in anticipation.

Bonuses posted today (strange, but whatever). Odd that MIL and TEX still don't have posted bonuses 11-20.

Didn't we learn from the Rocker situation that if the team wanted compensation that they had to offer X% of slot but only applies if the player submitted themselves to the MLB medical screening process. Boras didn't, took his client private, didn't get the offer they wanted and went back into the draft and the Met's were compensated.
Comp-B should have compensation if not signed, so maybe we'll know something.
Maybe he'll just sign and it doesn't matter.

Just noted something in the draft. I joked (ok, only half joked) the Orioles would draft Cameron Johnson in the first round. He was ranked 42 by Pipeline and seemed like a top40 kid in general (showed up in mocks, top40)...but he went undrafted until the 20th round when the Cards just took him. Seemed like a pretty common "HSer going to college" type thing...but just noticed (unless it's a misprint) that he signed with the Cards for the 150k.
Cards signed the #42 kid in the 20th round for 150k.
Might be the oddest story in this draft. Will be interesting if we hear whatever on the situation (why he lasted, why he signed) and if there's any gross negative stuff on the kid (puts kittens in the microwave, having TJS, something) or if they made a drug deal with him and he shows up on the 40 soonest. I understand you can't officially do something like that anymore, so we'll watch.
He's not on the draft tracker anymore. I think that was a mistake/typo whatever. See also
https://www.mlb.com/...ignings-tracker
According to Callis and the tracker, Baumeister, Walker Jenkins (1/5), and Caden Kendal (10/305) are the only top 10 picks not signed. Would prefer the pitcher, hopefully they at least get Ritchie out of it.

If I read this correctly om MLB Draft Tracker a HS/1st ry college player has until next draft to sign. Not sure if it means all of them.

I was told it only applies to players who are going to junior colleges, not 4 year universities.

I believe this is right, and also it's only if drafted 11th round or later.
