Grunfeld on why #wizards made trade instead buying out Rashard Lewis: "That [$] would've been for a player that doesn't give you anything."

A tweet from a guy I respect:
Zach Lowe
Not really feeling this for the Wiz. Not good enough to play "win now" game.
Sums up how I feel...Grunfield just does not seem to get it. There were rumors that NO would have given up the 10th pick to move Okafur who when healthy is a decent player but far overpaid. Grunfield seems to get rid of bad contracts by taking on more money for longer years. Giving up the second is not wise IMO. Adding these two guys does not make them a winner just less of a loser. Does that really matter.

Buying out Lewis and using the amensty clause on Andre Blatche would have done the same thing. Maybe Leonis was the problem.According to Was Post this trade was made for 3 reasons: placate Wall, have these 2 contracts coming off the books the same time Wall is a restricted FA,help a roster that still has 9 guys that have been in the league 3 years or less

One other thing, and I know this will not be popular with Wiz fans but unless Wall develops a reliable jumper then he is not a guy I would give a max contract too. He is not a star without a jumper.

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

Not me -- the sooner they get off the books the better. Since the Wizards aren't going anywhere for the next two years anyway (other than a low playoff seed to appease Wall), gimme the sooner expiring contract.
I'll take the much better and younger player. Anderson is a guy who can be part of a future very good Wizards team and the contract is a good one.

Yep, awful performances by them, and many others. I knew the 3-ball was going to kill us tonight. Started out 5 for 8, and finished 8 for 32... I mean, really? Just terrible offensive sets and discipline all night. What a terrible performance by some of these guys tonight. Okafor was awful, Booker was worse. Verajao dominated the paint, come on! Seraphin and Nene can't come back soon enough.

Varejao almost had a triple double. That sums up this game pretty nicely.

Kyrie Irving is a monster, by the way, though I might look like an All Star playing against the likes of AJ Price and Jannero Pargo.

29 for Kyrie!

No Wall or Nene tonight.
29 for Kyrie!
He should've had 50 against that poo poo platter of PG's he faced tonight.

Yea, I agree. Kyrie can get to the rim anytime he wants...Wall has to develop some sort of consistent shot.

That as the big difference for me. Kyrie can shoot.Yea, I agree. Kyrie can get to the rim anytime he wants...Wall has to develop some sort of consistent shot.
Wall is more athletic but Kyrie is a superior basketball player.

More complete for sure. Wall is pretty sick in the open floor. Once (if) he gets a better shot, he'll be an all star.
