The silver lining is the play of Van Noy, Clowney and Oweh has made Ojabo's absence not matter.

Doesn't matter for the immediate; but you still want him gaining experience.... with the hope of him being able to take a step forward next year. Now he's facing extended rehab which will likely impact his development.

But yeah, no real impact right now.

More like Nojobo.

It's okay. Who's Grampy Jack's favorite wolverine this year? Ben's brother, Max Bredeson?

Absolutely zero chance that Ojabo is cut next year.

Exactly. Also ridiculous to try to frame this as a biased Michigan selection. He was a top 20 pick who dropped to 45 only because of the injury. Nearly everyone on draft night  had him as one of their best available when selected

Yeah he was obviously a reasonable pick. I don’t want Harbaugh making draft decisions, but this is not Ben Mason.

The Ravens are already paying the Harbaugh Tax by employing Willie Taggart. The Ojabo pick had nothing to do with it.

I didn't mean to say he wouldn't be here at the start of 2024, more that after 2024 he might be cut.  That would be his 3rd year in a 4 year deal, and if he doesn't show something by then I wouldn't put it past the Ravens to cut bait.  He's lost too much time to injuries and he's going to have to show us something.

I know it's been injury related absences that are affecting Ojabo's development but we're 2 years into his career and he's barely played.

We hope the talent and ability are there but to this point, there's no way of knowing. Unfortunately, we're getting close to bust territory with Ojabo.

Ojabo has played in 5 games and has gotten a strip sack / fumble in 2 of them. I think he has flashed legit potential and NFL talent. From that viewpoint, "it" seems to be there and he has it. Just the dreaded "when healthy" qualifier.

To me the risk of the pick was probably worth it. You're gambling a bit on maybe getting another Clowney (this year) type edge rusher, maybe more... with the downside of him coming off a major injury.

No reason not to let him finish out his rookie contract.

I'm not interested. He can't block and is well past his prime. I'd rather just elevate Vokolek.

Saw that the Ravens offered Madubuike an extension and that he rejected it.  Can't blame him.

Bet on himself and is winning. They can tag him next year for something like $18M.

Also saw the Ravens were in on Chase Young until the end. Saw some rumors that the Ravens had a better offer but then pulled out due to Young's medical exam. Also saw a rumor that they were edged out by SF.

The biggest determining factor for the stretch run in the AFC is strength of schedule. The Ravens have the toughest remaining schedule in the AFC. The other contenders are as follows:

Miami-15th
Cleveland-21st
Houston-23rd
Jacksonville-25th
Pittsburgh-26th
KC-29th

Others receiving votes:

Cincinnati-4th
Buffalo-10th
Denver-27th

I've mostly given up on edging out KC for home field as they lost to two NFC teams so will likely win that tie breaker and running the table seems unlikely for us. GB has been better and who knows what's happening in Buffalo so the next two weeks are a chance though.

At least with Miami, Jax, and Pitt, we control our destiny by playing them.

You worry about beating out Jac and Miami for the #2 seed. If the #1 seed somehow happened thats awesome but we def control our own destiny for the #2 seed.

Denver is a team to watch out for.  If they sneak in they could make a run.  Veteran coach, veteran QB, aggressive defense and they are playing very well right now and gaining confidence.  They are an outdoor cold weather team that could come east and upset any of the AFC East or North teams in a wild card game.

And yes, I know that Miami dropped 70 on them.  That was way early in the season.  If they play that game today, no way that happens.
