Food for thought... through 2 games, comparison to last year... Pass Plays are "pass + sack", Rushes are "Rush - Knees"
2022: 61 Pass Plays, 44 Rushes
2023: 59 Pass Plays, 68 Rushes
I get it, some of the runs are Lamar running when the pocket collapses. But still, that's a NOTABLE and I think / hope very intentional thing on the part of Monken. Same time, while some of the runs are Lamar taking off, remember the two plays late in week 1 vs HOU where the crowd booed the hell out of the quick "screens" to Flowers behind the LOS... those were really like long hand-offs to get the ball quickly in his hands, a high percentage safe throw. They didn't get much, looked kind of ugly when blocking broke down... but... they kept the clock running. Which is valuable when you have the ball, and the lead, and are in VERY high percentage Justin Tucker range. 75% completion through 2 games, which again... tends to keep the ball moving forward (field position at worst) and the clock running (less game clock the D has to handle themselves).
It's early, but this has to be the mode Monken sticks with throughout the season hopefully, including post-season... and even if they get down a few points early.
