That's a horrible call. Horrible.
I thought he was right of the line on the replay. If he wasn't I take this back.

That's a horrible call. Horrible.
I've never seen a WORSE CALL than that in my life! My 12 year old son just said, "he was ducking the throw cuz it was so off the mark!"

Yeah that's absolutely the right call. Vavra running like a complete jackass 3 feet into fair territory.
If the catcher was making the play I'd agree. But his line had no affect on the throw.

It is historically bad.I've never seen a WORSE CALL than that in my life! My 12 year old son just said, "he was ducking the throw cuz it was so off the mark!"
Kluber's throw was not impacted at all all by Vavra.
Your twelve year old is a sharp kid.
He has more baseball sense than that MLB ump.

I can't rewind on this TV, but the replay I saw looked like Vavra was almost on the grass in FAIR territory. He's gotta be in foul until the base to be protected.
I'm sorry...did you say ALMOST on the turf? So he was in the dirt and not on the grass/turf....therefore he's safe. It's a rule...plain and simple.

It was the right call based on where Vavra was running.

Exactly.
He wasn't three feet in fair territory either.

Hyde not getting ejected also speaks loudly to him not disagreeing with the call, IMO.
You're nuts dude...sorry...terrible call. He was NOT 3 feet on the freakin grass!

Yes, it's a rule. He's gotta be in the runners lane in foul territory to be protected (and then not interfering if the throw hits him or he blocks the fielder). He wasn't. He was in fair territory in the dirt, which is not where he's supposed to and allowed to be.

What do you think the line halfway up first base in foul territory is for?
