Well Seattle is doing their best to keep us in the race. Losing 3 straight very winnable games is a tough pill to swallow.

Yeah, especially when the O's have dropped 3 games that seemed very winnable.

Bradish has been so good recently. It's obviously bad timing for him to not have his stuff. But in the bigger picture, he's shaping up to be a good mid-rotation guy.
Good news! I saw a dog today.

3.5 back with 8 to play...too much to ask?
Going 2-6 to finish out the year will guarantee a winning record.
Wouldn't be surprised if both happen.

We need to make up 5 games with 8 to play, not just 3.5. Trail Seattle by 4 in the loss column and need to beat them outright because they lose the tie-breaker.
You wouldn't be surprised if the Orioles make the playoffs? Can you quantify that? What percentage odds would you give them right now?

The O's magic number to be eliminated by Seattle is 3.
Down to 1 for both Seattle and TB.
The only path left is to win every remaining game and to have either TB or Seattle lose every remaining game. Still a chance!!

Good year in a lot of ways. Hardly intentional in terms of FO heading into this season. I'd like to see >81 wins for the narrative or it.
If you look at MLB wins, we're actually sitting comfortably between the teams above and below us, so in all likelihood (pending other draft adjustments or extreme results final 6 games), we'll be drafting 17th.

Regardless of the pre-season expectations, this is a collapse. Sucks. Hopefully they got that out of their way for when there are actual expectations moving forward.
Agree. Part of why I don't like throwing away seasons so that you can compete when you are ready is because once you're ready it often takes a while to learn how to do it. They (front office) lucked into a good learning opportunity for many of the players on this team this year.
Going 4-7 against Toronto and Houston was frustrating but going 5-7 against Washington, Detroit, and Boston really chaps my ass.

It went from reasonable chance to long shot to need a miracle to eliminated (next loss or TB/Sea win) pretty fast.

Maybe not by Orioles standards who have a 4-32 finish to their credit.

Rays won tonight, and punched their ticket. If the Mariners win, they will to and the O’s will be officially eliminated.

When I think of late-season collapses, I tend to think of teams such as the 1964 Phillies, the 1978 Red Sox, or the 2007 Mets--teams that looked absolutely unassailable and then inexplicably fell apart like a tray of dropped dishes. The 2022 Orioles don't meet that criteria for me, mainly because there was never a point in the season (unlike the teams listed above) when they looked like far and away the best team in baseball. They weren't scoring runs at a record clip or on pace to eclipse such teams as the '27 Yankees or the 1998 Yankees. Nothing like that.
For me, this year's Orioles were an illustration of what happens when the hope and optimism of July and August runs headlong into the harsh realities of September. This was a fun team to watch and I've really enjoyed it, but they are also seriously flawed. If nothing else, the 162-game season will always expose your weaknesses.
