This is the first time, I have felt like Hyde is putting who he thinks should play.  For 3 years, he has managed with the goals of Elias and the front office first and foremost.  I listened to Hyde answer reporters questions about where and when Vavra was going to play and he really downplayed Vavra's potential role.   In the past, he has acted excited to have the call ups and quickly got them in the game.  It felt entirely different this time.

Its annoying, I wanna see Vavra, but it makes sense.

Get seeing Nevin over Vavra with the stat splits. Still rather see Vavra. Nevin is not going to be part of this team down the road. Vavra may or may not be but only one way to find out. Give him the next two months to see that he's got.

I am not sure if Nevin is a short timer.  I try not to make up my mind on players who are so new to the majors.  It is interesting that 2 guys acquired in the same trade are kind of linked at this point.

Everything is a hit now.  Errors don't exist.

 

I would like to get away from ERA and just use R/9 for pitchers.  Then we can go back to charging errors just as a way of tallying the fielders and not influencing the pitchers.  Hitters I guess suffer a bit with more errors being called.

Total BS. Both those plays are errors. At least Lyles got out of it with no damage, except for having to throw a lot more pitches than he should have.
