Kevin Willard says his team will probably start the year “playing way too fast, shooting a bunch of threes, pressing a ton, and getting after it”. Tried to re-energize the fan base by engaging former players and recruiting locally.

So basically, he’s the anti-Turgeon.

Love this. If they're going to struggle early but are building something good, let it rip.

Stop. Give the guy a chance. If you think Willard was going to be able to compete with Oates and the NIL stuff going on in the south within his first couple of months of walking through the door of the mediocrity that Turge left behind, you were just setting yourself up with disappointment. Furthermore, don't poo poo other's negative energy on the Ravens and O's, if that's how people feel, and then do this. Give the dude a chance, what else can we do? I love what I'm hearing. That said, I'll text you, let's get out there to Xfinity early in the season and give the guy some love.

I wasnt being too serious though the comment does have some merit. Im looking forward to something different. Really hope Willard can make care again

I’m not an alum. I’m a casual who has followed since like Walt Williams and Joe Smith, but has no connection besides being a MD resident, though I followed throughout Gary’s time. I liked the Trimble years, but I’m more excited this year than I’ve been since like the Greivis years. Turg was ok but I don’t think anyone can argue that those years were exciting. That means more than nothing, I assume there’s others who were interested during Gary’s time who lost interest the past 5 or so years. Again, happy to admit I’m a casual, but also happy to come back.

Anyway, what I’m trying to say is I like what I’ve heard from Willard so far. It remains to be seen how it works out, but casual me is excited, even if it takes a couple years before it turns out good.

Willard said today that Ike Cornish pulled his groin last week and missed three days of practice, which is why he didn’t see the court against Niagara.

What are we, BYU?  Strange thing to punish a player for doing.

Punishment? Or he wasn’t prepared/healthy? Either way given the last coach never let him see the court, maybe it’s Cornish. Also, maybe it’s just one game. We’ll see.

Huh? He tweaked a muscle in practice and he wasn't healthy enough to play. He'll be on the court soon, maybe even tomorrow night.

I believe he was going for the joke that "pulling his groin" was a euphemism for uhh pleasuring yourself lol

Coppin and then a struggling Louisville team so they have a chance to get to 7-0 before the schedule really gets tough.

Well deserved spot in the rankings. What a meteoric rise. Wasn’t even one of the 10-15 teams listed in the others receiving votes category last week. Glad their hard work is rewarded. Good for KW. Took the dude 5 games. Awesome.

I sped through the game last night on DVR and Scott was terrific.  I really like the way the way the team is running an offense.  There were a lot of wide open looks that resulted in easy baskets.

Kevin Willard can coach.

Worth noting that it took Mark Turgeon more than three years to get Maryland ranked. It took Kevin Willard five games.

To be fair its a much different landscape. Transfers make reshaping a roster over a year possible. Some of the early work Turge did was some of his best work IMO
