I don't think I've ever used that term on here, so that ain't it.

I must have missed that concession of "my tangent" based on something you brought up to give all fairness to a pro Putin stance. I mean you liked a post so maybe that was a concession?

Your comparing the potential presence of Nazis in the US government to those in the Ukranian government is the "whataboutism" in your overall stance. It really had nothing to do with the article. I guess it made you feel better to bash the unnamed reps in the thread.

However, I never denied that extremists weren't present in the the US government. I even conceded to Ricker that I don't care for Gosar or Greene or their recent actions/activities.

I also said that there very well may be be Nazis in our goverment. My concession to you.

I genuinely liked your post.

(My apologies if that offended you in some manner.)

My post was not pro Putin in any way. He had no reason to invade a sovereign nation and kill civilians.I just think that there's a lot more to this than Vlad putting the Old Socialist States back together again. The fact that a former Ambassador to Russia stated that there are " No Nazis in Ukraine" is a lie and is troubling at a certain level.

Also, we shouldn't be surprised if some people who go over there to fight on the side of Ukraine don't turn out to do some nefarious stuff in other places ( including the US) after this is all over.

You can have the last word web.

I promise not to like the post beforehand.

This started with you linking an article that focused on Ukraine's problem with neo nazis and the extremist right, and you calling that a mess. That was to support you being fair to a person who literally is an extremist right wing member of Congress. It's not a potential issue here that we have an extremist right wing element in our elected positions, it objectively an issue here. Always has been and that's not deniable. Hitler was inspired by America. We've gotten better since then, but that strain in this country is far from squashed out. It is often shown here with different symbols than the swastika though because Hitler and the nazis were arguably our most notorious enemy.

Not denying that while also not admitting it is not what I would consider a concession. That's why I was genuinely wondering if your like was what you were talking about. I certainly was not offended by it.

So calling them a mess and using the extremist right wing and nazi problem as justification without acknowledging that it's also a problem here is a poor omission just as you correctly say that it is a poor omission by those that say this isn't an issue at all in Ukraine. Let's be forthright about that all around. That was all I was asking for.

As for your last two statements before granting me the last word. There is more to what Putin is doing as he has legit strategic reasons for doing what he did (by no means justifies it to be clear). This nazi stuff is just propaganda to obscure the actual reasons from the public though. And at this point, he likely will have paid way far too large a cost for the benefits of winning this (if they even do) to outweigh that cost. Good.

Yes, I agree, we should not be surprised.

Btw, from what I can tell, the Nazi type party got 2% of the vote in Ukraine's last elections, below the 5% threshold of their electoral system, meaning they didn't get any seats.

Russia is like a wounded animal. With the economic sanctions (rightly so), they are going to get pushed into a corner and believe they will do whatever in their mind, they have to, to survive.

This is a no brainer for me so I have no idea why we haven't given them from the start of the conflict. BTW - did not know the US military had these in their arsenal.

It may even be a bigger problem over here and other spots in the world. if and when some of these " volunteers" go back to their homelands after this is over.

I know this is real life and not fiction, but this whole Ukraine invaded by mad dictator, sounds like something right out of a Tom Clancy thriller.

So a Russian state media reported that KIA in Ukraine was just under 10K. It was not surprisingly taken down shortly after. UN estimates Russians have lost 7-14K men. In four weeks. That’s more than they lost in ten years in Afghanistan. There is no way Russia can endure this. One way or another it’ll end and probably not that far into the future. Putin simply cannot survive this whether politically or otherwise. It’s been a historic epic fail.

He’s a lunatic and anything is possible but I’d still be shocked if he decided to use nukes against Ukraine. Kyiv is one of the most important cities in Russian history, not just for the country but for the ethnic Russians. The article I posted goes into it at depth. It would be akin to Muslims nuking Jerusalem in order to take back Palestine.
