What a difference in period 1 vs period 2-3. Dominated by Florida.

Too many odd man rushes

It was a lazy effort the last 2 periods. One of the goals like four Caps players are staring at the puck in crease, and one FLA player pokes it in.
Also could have been worse having allowed 18 first period shots.

Wilson was spotted skating yesterday at the Caps practice facility. If they are going to force a game 7 getting him back in the lineup tonight would certainly help.

Wonder who they will go with in net tonight?
Samsonov has had a good series, but was notably shook last time out. That 3rd goal in particular was really bad form for him. Failed to see the play developing and was way too slow switching over. Can't give layups like that.
Hope Wilson can come back, that'd be huge. Caps are home, crowd will be into it. Important to keep them in it. Avoid the strong start by Florida, and they can get this done.
On paper, Florida has ALL the momentum. The Caps have a LOT of Stanley Cup experience in that locker room. Should be a good game tonight.

Samsonov gets the nod.
Still no Wilson.
Panthers are good but they are beatable, can the Caps play a complete game because that's what they need to get the W

Not Lavi’s strong suit.

I guess that’s the hard part, is how inevitable this all felt? And way too talented to be an 8 seed in the first place IMO.That lack of defense thing we have talked about all year bit them in the ass.
Not Lavi’s strong suit.
They battled and made the series fun to watch but those last 3 losses were all brutal in their own way.
Ready for Ovi to break into the 800 club early next season.

The Caps are an infuriating team to root for. I couldn't even watch any games when this series was tied. I've seen them blow it too many times. Only the Caps could go an inch from going up 3-1 on an empty netter and instead don't win another game Only the Caps could go up by a score of 3-0 and then give up 5 unanswered goals in the next game. Only the Caps could score a thrilling game tying goal in the final minute only to lose in overtime.
The only thing that would be more Caps-like is if they fire the coach on Monday. I fully expect it. It may even be the right move this time. However, it doesn't matter. This team's window is done. Not pairing Ovechkin with a proper long-term coach early in his career has cost them multiple championships. What a waste of such great talent.

Think he gets the boot? Defense has been lacking since Trotz left.

They were saying EVERYTHING is on the table, which implies he may not be in a good position.
Also interesting is Backstrom pondering retirement because of his hip. And the fact Malkin is a UFA.
Backstrom retires, and they give his money to Malkin to play with Ovechkin? (No I don't think this is likely, but interesting story the way the pieces are lined up).

Oof Backstrom is undergoing hip surgery. Don't be surprised if he decides to hang it up.

They are all in on bringing in a #1. Could be Kuemper from COL, not sure how I feel about him.
Could be a trade for Matt Murray or John Gibson. Should be interesting to watch.
Took the Russian kid in the first round last night that had fallen because he had Lymphoma. Was a top 5 prospect before he got sick so could be the steal of the draft if he bounces back ok.

I love the draft pick, looks like a total stud. Wish him well, life is bigger than hockey first and foremost.
