They might as well put Wells in the bullpen when he comes back. I don't think his body is built to be a starting pitcher. It's a win if he can be a dominant bullpen arm.
Don't want to be super pessimistic, but when you are talking elbow discomfort (or shoulder), odds of them coming back start dropping like a rock.
I really hope it doesn't get to that, but even the minor elbow stuff usually will point to something else in there, and if it's bad enough to hit the DL, it's not a good thing.
Might be better off hoping for a good performance from Suarez, Povich or Chase, and then HOPE Wells is fine and comes back healthy and you worry about where to put him later.
The World Series might as well be sponsored by CareFirst this year, because health is going to decide who wins.

It's absolutely not a full tear, because then there is nothing to think about.

Aren't ready to share the results is bizarre. Optimistic take would be that they saw a partial tear and maybe they're considering if PRP is possible? Kind of like with Bautista last year? Bradish I think must've been in better shape since they did the PRP almost right away. Pessimistic take is they're wondering if he needs Tommy John or if a lateral brace could do the trick? That's "only" 12 months recovery time instead of 18+ for ligament replacement.
It's absolutely not a full tear, because then there is nothing to think about.
A lot of the time teams wait to announce until the surgery has already happened or is at least scheduled, could be that too. Like with Strider earlier this year. Or he could be going for a 2nd opinion and hasn't gotten it yet so they won't talk about it until they get that.

Whatever is the bottom line pretty sure we won't see Wells again this season.

Yeah I am usually optimistic about these kinds of things, I was with Bradish, but I don’t see much reason to be optimistic here. It’s certainly worse than Bradish, though like Mackus said probably not a full on 100% surgery. PRP working is usually the exception I think, and with the weird announcement I’ll just assume we’re not in the exception until I hear otherwise.

I hope he is but I hope more that the FO has him totally off their mind this offseason when they decide what pitching pieces they need to add over the winter.

Would imagine he will be considered a reliever moving forward anyway.

It seems like that is the best chance to keep him healthy.
