That's his main position.

They want to increase his versatility and they also know he can play 2nd effectively...while Jones needs more time there.

In CF. Vavra fills in on all OF spots. It’s just weird that 2B isn’t even an option for him in the game.

Has Vavra changed his approach this year?  Cut down on the swing?

Just looking at the statline, its not a lot of PA (this year or last) but his AVG is way up while his K% is down and ISO is way down.  BB% has remained really high.

That's interesting. .181 ISO last year at AA seems fine, but according to Fangraphs Vavra has even less power than Adam Hall. So maybe it's true he/the team decided to change something up if power isn't going to be his game anyway.

Hope he can do over .100 though, usually you need at least a little power respect from MLB pitchers.

Especially so if walks are a big part of your game.  Not many guys with very low power but a good walk rate.

Assuming I did my excel-ing right...only 7 guys of the 262 with over 300 PA last year were in the top-quartile (75th percentile and above) in BB% who also were in the bottom quartile (25th percentile and below) of ISO.

I don’t think so. The organization as a whole has seen their strikeout rate drop and walk rate rise. He missed a decent chunk of time with a hamstring injury. Great approach at the plate, great at placing the ball between infielders and outfielders to all fields. I think he could be a 25-30 doubles, 5-10 HR type of hitter with a seasons worth of playing time.

It will be interesting to see if Vavra is the call up tomorrow, as the Orioles need to add a position player.

Hope so. Sick of hearing his name discussed without seeing him in the majors.

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

It's not like he has played a lot of games.
Would be fun to see him though.

Unless they are bringing Stowers or a back up catcher up, Vavra makes a lot of sense.  He could play in the infield and outfield.  Maybe develop 9into a super utility type

I actually thought he'd be the replacement for Owings for UTL work.

Owings is irreplaceable.

Vavra should be the starting 2B.

If they call him up, he should get a lot of PT.  I would like to see him take the position.

He's got 94 ab's at AAA.

He had 149 ab's at AA last year.

Obviously '20 he didn't play.
'19 he was in Low A.

So between last year and this year... he's got a combined 243 combined ab's at AA and AAA.

It's not like they are slow playing him.

If he does come up, and they like him at 2nd... then they can use Westburg and Henderson at SS and 3rd.

Right now, I still picture Westburg at 2nd, Henderson at 3rd, and the O's going external to address SS.
