I wouldn't be too sure that Bobby V will get that gig back, he's burned a lot of bridges this time around and became really polarizing. Wouldn't rule it out though. Ozzie is on somewhat better footing IMO, being bilingual helps him as well in terms of opportunities.Well Bobby V seems to be a good fit there.
Ozzie like Bobby V just does not know when to shut up.
ESPN awaits them.

The Marlins' next hire will be a tough one because no proven skipper will want to go there since there is no job security. If I'm Loria/Beinfest, I'm taking a long look at a guy like Brad Ausmus, who is hungry to break in and would bring professionalism, intelligence and levity. After seeing the success that Ventura and Mike Matheny had in their first years, a guy like Ausmus would be a good fit. The Fish do not need another fiery guy, but rather someone who can bring a calmness to the clubhouse.
This next hire will be most critical hire Loria has ever made, so he'd better make it count.

I'd be pretty shocked if he gets the job considering they probably want to get away from the Ozzie model and his age doesn't help here. But then again, this organization has twice hired Jack McKeon.

If it was between this job and the Red Sox, my guess is it was a proximity issue since he's from/lives in Tampa.

You wonder what Bud Selig will do. The path he cleared for Frank McCourt is certainly broad enough for Loria. For this is not how the health and prosperity of the game can play in Miami. Maybe Loria can live easily with the embarrassment of what he's done, but baseball shouldn't.

Fans can tolerate slashing and burning if it's done with a dose of conviction or a long-range plan -- or better yet, on the heels of a parade. When a team lards up its roster and trumpets a "new era" in conjunction with a new ballpark, then completely changes course in the span of a few months, it's a recipe for anger, cynicism and empty seats.

Baseball's labor contract requires that revenue-sharing money be used by a team "in an effort to improve its performance on the field." If a team's payroll in a year is less than 125 percent of its revenue- sharing receipts, the burden to show compliance would shift to the team in a grievance.

I hate to side with the Marlins here and even Buehrle seems to acknowledge the lack of no-trade clause. Unless you have something in writing, it doesn't really matter. They can even "lie" all they want, it's a business as long as it's not on writing, "promises" mean nothing. Buehrle probably got his best potential deal from them, if another team could come close to matching they would've. Buehrle was looking out for his best interests when signing a year ago, just the same way the Marlins are now. And you could see the writing on the wall for this with the incredibly back-loaded contracts. The Marlins clearly had a plan B if it didn't work. This is the same reason that Pujols didn't seriously consider the Marlins.
