Seth shared a story recently which I won't share unless he wants to himself - but basically he found out that Norby has a little bro in NCAA, and based on his early performances, he's a bit of a stud. SP.

His brother is Ethan Norby, a junior at East Carolina, the 5’9 LHP has 4 walks and 46 K in 31 IP so far this year. No idea about his stuff but the numbers are impressive. He’s eligible for the 2026 draft.

From what I can find, the velo is around 90 so it must be a combination of deception, command, and plus secondaries. The kid had a 19 K game against Coastal Carolina.

Mayo is 3+ years older than Basallo. Plus, Mayo already raked in the previous ST only to be sent down. He is way out of Basallo’s league in terms of ‘justified angst’ - if there’s ever such a thing.

Yeah that's a good point, 151 career games in AAA vs 21 career games in AAA definitely is a pretty big gap

Should have traded Mayo and kept Norby.

I like Norby and thought that trade was horrible, but no IMO, no way Norby should be prioritized over Mayo.

I really did not have any problem with Mayo's comments.  He wants to be in the show and cares about his career.  Good for him, voicing his opinion.

He had 43 days last year, need 172 for one year so 129 more. There's like 149 days left in the season? So 3 more weeksish?

It just makes too much sense. If he goes out and finishes top 2 in the ROY race then more power to him. It will ultimately mean good things for the Os

Yeah, I don't disagree with it. If we'd never seen him before, I'd be more aggressive since I'd have more hope for immediate impact. But given the MLB struggles in his past I'm content to wait even as Mounty slumps hard.

An injury to Mounty or O'Hearn and he gets the nod, though. Unless we are only talking single days left at that point.

As much as Mounty sucks right now it would be really nice to get him going too. Whether thats to stay here and help the team or help his trade value. Another reason why staying down a few more weeks doesnt bother me

Btw Mounty could be traded still but his value has to be at an all time low. He cant elevate the ball or seemingly turn on a fastball. Seems pretty much a shell of the 30 HR guy we saw in 2021
