Not sure they are quite at this level.

Federer or Serena?
Not sure they are quite at this level.
Neither tbh. I think they're both internationally known but they aren't at that level of fame imo.

Yea I don’t think tennis is big enough.Neither tbh. I think they're both internationally known but they aren't at that level of fame imo.
I would think Serena would be #1 in the Tennis world though.

No sibling...no parents.
My brother and sister in law have a rule that they never fly together for this exact reason.
Always felt it was silly (even though I got the reasoning) but when you see it actually happen, it definitely makes you wonder about that.

Another one to bring up. How about Floyd Mayweather?

Big name - Awful human being. https://theundefeate...-beating-women/
That makes a huge difference IMO.

No way.
He wouldn’t have nearly this amount of coverage.
No one cares enough about any of the combat sports for any of those guys to be at this level.
It basically has to be soccer or basketball...and Tiger.
I don’t think any other sport can put someone that has that much appeal.
I mean, Trout is maybe one of the ten best players ever and is still young and no way he gets this coverage.
Football is huge but not sure it is globally big enough.
I don’t think any musicians nowadays carry this level of attention either..Jay Z has a huge following but I don’t think there is wall to wall coverage across different types of networks.

I don't think that being awful will keep coverage from happening. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think if certain awful people died today, the fame would overtake the bad.
There's always a moratorium on speaking ill of the dead for some strange reason. I mean, anybody that has brought up The Denver Incident has been absolutely shouted down over the past 24 hours.
I agree that it's likely not as big as Kobe, just on fame though.

Musicians probably get the most attention. FWIW, the top twitter follows are Obama, Katy Perry, Bieber, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Christiano Ronaldo, Gaga, Ellen, YouTube, and Ariana Grande.
6 of the top 10 are musicians. A streaming service, an athlete, a talkshow host (and more), and a president. Grande has 68M followers up to Obama at 111M. Kobe only had like 14M.

Lakers/Clippers tomorrow night has been postponed. They said several Lakers players and staff are inconsolable.
Also, UConn women had a touching tribute for Gigi who wanted to go there. They put a jersey with flowers on one of the chairs on their bench.

That’s surprising to me but he probably just can’t find the words yet.

Messi would be the closest to Kobe.

We still haven’t heard from LeBron.

He posted on IG. Nice post.
Talked about having talked to him that morning. Crazy.

Steph Curry, will not a perfect comparison, is the kind of player that I think would have a similarly shocking impact on the world.

Basketball is most popular sport in the world. I feel as though its biggest stars will always be some of the biggest public figures regardless of country or region.
Basketball has certainly become more global, but it is not close to the most popular sport in the world. That would be soccer, and it's not very close.
