Right when the Orioles were heating up. Figures

Griffey Jr turned 50 yesterday.

Damn, that makes me feel old.

Mike Wright has found a new job

That's good. He may not be a major league-quality starter, but he is talented enough to make a living from professional baseball.

One of the biggest problems with the singular focus on development within the organized minors is that such players struggle to find a role, when sixty years ago they would have had long careers if they wanted.

A million bucks to play baseball living in a cool and different place.  You see it far more often with basketball players, but even the guys that can't stick in the pros can get to do some really exciting and interesting things during their 20s and make some good cash doing it.  Sure it's a step down from making 8 figures annually if you happen to succeed in the majors, but it's one hell of a consolation prize.

When they go to Japan and Korea, these guys get a great hookup. They get set up with a great condo/house (paid for by the team), a translator to help with the immersion, meals, flights for family to and from to visit, etc. They're basically taking their salary and pocketing the majority of it, minus taxes and minor living expenses.

Yankees released Ellsbury and are going to try not to pay him. Saying the treatment he received was unauthorized by the team. MLBPA will fight this to the grave.

It would appear that Ellsbury has been receiving treatment at the Progressive Medical Clinic in Atlanta since 2017. The physician in charge of the clinic, Viktor Bouquette, has a somewhat checkered medical history.

I wonder if the MLB "source" regarding Wheeler is none other than Wheeler's agent.

A real "Wheeler Dealer," if you will. :D
