I actually like the Braves' signing of Cole Hamels. A bit pricey, but there's really no such thing as a bad one-year deal.
As for the Phillies, I'm not sure if they're getting any better, but they're sure as hell getting more expensive. Wheeler is like having a hand full of tens and kings in pinochle. They're only good once the aces are out. Wheeler is not an ace.

Roch mentioned this morning that the O’s will listen on Givens and Mancini.
Not really a surprise. Just thought we could use a Winter Meetings thread for the board.
Like you said no surprise. Hopefully we get some return other than payroll reduction for them.

Roch's speculation on Cashner is interesting. I'd be down for a 1-year contract reunion with him to help make the rotation less nauseating.

Adam Jones to Japan?
Good for Adam, I guess. He loves to play, and I think he probably does not want to wait for a minor league contract deal.

Orioles should bring Jones back on the cheap. Astroball laid out that Elias and Lunhow found that veteran presence is necessary for team chemistry, and were ale put a value on team chemistry. Six games i think it was. It's why the Cubs had David Ross on their team, and the Astros bringing back 40-some year old Carlos Beltran. There are statistically better players out there. But leadership presence, a glue bonding the young team, counts for six wins, thats someone you don't have to pay 6.0 WAR in millions of dollars for.
Of course trying to win isn't on the table for.....a while...I guess.
