Seems like a surprising pair up.
NOT what I want to hear when you find out PIT is self quarantining 9 players because they were exposed to someone who tested positive yesterday.

Will come down to our goaltending I think.

I'm surprised Holtby got all the play in the round robin. I don't like our chances based on that alone. He does not look the part of a Cup winning goalie right now.I think it’s a lot closer at the top in the east than normal. A lot of parity.

Don't forget how down on him you were when the playoffs started in 2018 too
Sometimes the grind is too monotonous for goalies and they kinda check out. But like we talked about back in like 2012, the LAST thing you want to see in the playoffs is a hot goalie, or one of those guys like Ludquist where even if they were having a down year, could turn it on any minute and whoop you in a 7 game series. Grant Fuhr another one like that. He would have a 3.00 GAA some years going into the playoffs but could drop a goose egg on you anytime he wanted in the playoffs. Frustrating. I think Holts might be a little like that, where he's won a cup. He's won a Vezina. Now he's just going through the motions until something big really comes up and challenges him.
I would have been all about giving Samsonov a decent time split to get him more experience. But getting hurt home in Russia killed that for us. So we'll have to hope Holts has a big hurrah left in him before FA, would be a hell of a way to hit the market, and then that Samsonov will be good enough, either to contend or at least to buy time til the YOUNG kids we have get a chance to develop. I think there are two Juniors/Low Minors that have potential, but they are a couple years off still.
