I think they are going to keep Odor as long as they are in the race.

About time, actually about 2 weeks too late.

Phillips DFA.

I wonder if someone in the media will ask what the whole point of that was. I'd certainly be interested in an explanation.

Doubtful.  And if they do, they will get some BS answer.

I could understand if outfield defense was an issue, but Mullins, Hays, McKenna are all plus outfielders.

Awesome.

Very interested to see who's time he gets.  Odor would be the one if it were my call (Vavra to 2B, Santander to DH).

And it's not like Stowers is some sort of slouch out there either. But yeah, that's the sort of question where if you ask, you soon find your media credential revoked.

Didn't someone say at the trade deadline they believed a trade of Sandtander was going to happen and Phillips was the fill in .?

Pure speculation. I think Phillips was just a standard waiver claim even though it was technically a trade. He was DFA'd by TB.

It still doesn't explain why he was with the big league club, since he'd already been DFA'd when the Orioles got him and he wasn't called up until the day after the trade deadline. Nor does it explain why Diaz was up for two days instead of just bringing Stowers up and leaving him there. None of that accomplished anything in so far as making the roster any better for the past two-and-a-half weeks. Just baffling roster management.

Agree, no logic to it.

Only thing I saw that made any sense was Bob's theory that maybe they wanted to keep Stowers at <45 days service so that he would be ROY eligible in 2023, but then they went and called him up with 48 days left in the season so there goes that theory.

Stowers is swinging from his heels. He needs to calm down & be patient. He is swinging so hard he almost falls down .

Not worried about the strikeouts, he did it in the minors a decent amount but if he settles in and starts providing plenty of XBHs we'll be fine

That's his swing.  He'll likely strike out a lot, but he'll also likely hit the ball hard a lot.  Remains to be seen how well it will work at the MLB level but he did a good job reducing his K-rate at AAA.

Yeah I doubt Stowers' ceiling is a 50-HR season but striking out in exchange for power as a LHB at Camden worked out pretty well for prime Chris Davis lol

So far I've seen a few ground outs and lots of strike outs. He's pushing too hard.

He's played 3 games since he's been back on the big league club, 3.

He also hit one ball 106 mph and another 107 mph on Friday and missed a homerun by inches.

It is amazing how fast some decide a player does not belong.

Stowers had a good game on Friday night and a bad, real bad one on Sunday.

Put him right back in the lineup today.  If he struggles again tonight against Cease, who cares, put him right back in tomorrow.

And FWIW, I will take Stowers every time over Phillips.  Phillips is an excellent defensive outfielder, which is something we already have on the current roster.

The Orioles need to see if Stowers can help with his bat.

Kyle Stowers’ first homer in 9th sets up Anthony Santander’s walk-off hit in 11th in Orioles’ 4-3 win over White Sox
