Maybe he's coming around a bit. Hitting it hard at least.

In the past week, Gunnar Henderson has put eight balls in play at 99 mph or harder. He entered Sunday with 17 such balls in play on the season.
Six of this week's eight have been outs, with the exceptions being a triple and home run.

Up to 206/337/390/727. 104 OPS+. I don't think he's gonna get demoted.

On another note glad they are moving Ortiz all around and getting him plenty of work while he is up here. Basically using him as much as they used Urias or close to it.

They need Gunnar’s hit profile to raise enough to bump Mountcastle or Santander out of the 3 spot in the lineup. Or, if it improves significantly, he can hit 2 while Rutschman slots into 3rd.

Mountcastle has real issues man. You know we talk about him as some offensive plus but he has some of the worst oWAR on the team. I think he has less than Henderson now for all the regulars.

You probably know this, but oWAR accounts for position, its not just a straight tabulation of hitting. So its more tracking hitting relative to peers. Pretty easy to imagine Mountcastle as a weaker hitting 1B. I think he's capable of being solid, but not really much upside to be really good for a 1B outside of his occasional hot streaks. Overall fine, but definitely a spot we can improve on if an opportunity presents itself.

Last 30 days, he's at .769.

Hes fine. You just protect him against lefties.
I think you pick your spots for him against lefties. I believe he needs to have some success and build confidence. I know people wanted him to be pinch hit for last night with the bases loaded. I was glad they let him hit. He was having a good night, had 2 hits 3 RBI and hit the ball hard, but right at the first baseman. Good swing bad result but if that ball rattles around the corner, Gunnar has the big night that he has been hunting. If the Orioles are going to make the playoffs, Gunnar has to be a guy that steps up.

Just not interested in discussing his xWar Fip parabola
I’ve watched him this year. He looks like a crappy baseball player.
Maybe he figures it out and turns into left handed Nolan Arenado.
See? Maybe he figures it out!

.804 OPS.
OPS well over .900 past 30 days. Just crushing the ball over the past couple of weeks. Not bad after such a slow start where he was clearly pressing at the plate and on defense. Not bad for a kid who won't turn 22 for another couple of weeks.
Definitely won't be a star, though.
