Rutschman’s BDay is in February..same day as Babe Ruth and, more importantly, my youngest son.He will come up before his 24th birthday. Maybe earlier.

For him to be called up before he turns 24, that means he has to be up in 2021.
If he doesn’t see ML time by the time he turns 24, he will have either been injured/injury prone or a disappointment.
I tend to doubt he sees any ML time next year but it is possible...but 2021? Absolutely he should see ML time, again if he is as good as advertised.

Yep, I agree on all counts.

It's a good feeling to look at that list and see that they have only one of their prospects at the ML level right now, and he's not even in the top 10.
I'm a bit surprised how low the other picks are being rated, as they do look like they have a lot of potential.

“As soon as Rutschman signs with the Orioles, he not only becomes their best prospect but also baseball's best catching prospect (ahead of last year's No. 2 overall pick, Joey Bart). We'll add 2019 draftees (and international signees) to our various lists when we do our annual midseason overhaul, and he'll probably fit in the 10-15 range on the overall Top 100.
If Rutschman were a first baseman, he wouldn't have nearly as much defensive value as he does as a catcher, but he'd still be a switch-hitter who can hit for power and average while drawing a lot of walks. One scouting official I spoke to this spring said that if he considered Rutschman for his bat only, he'd compare him to Mark Teixeira. Lofty praise indeed, and Rutschman would rank as the game's best first-base prospect if that were his position.
Rutschman moves well enough that he could become at least an adequate defender at the hot corner if he shifted there. Austin Riley will graduate from prospect status after his next big league at-bat, so Rutschman would challenge Nolan Gorman (Cardinals) as baseball's top prospect at third base. Gorman has more raw power but Rutschman is a better all-around hitter.”

So tempting to move him, especially if he can become a good third baseman.

Agree. Not really interested in moving him to 1B. But 3rd would be sweet. I wonder though if they did switch him to another position, especially 3rd, how long would that delay his trip to the bigs?

“Breaking: Adley Rutschman, the No. 1 overall pick, catcher from Oregon State, is close to a deal with the Baltimore Orioles”
“Adley Rutschman’s deal, once official, is expected to be in record territory. Gerrit Cole’s $8M bonus is the current record bonus. #Orioles”

This is a bit of accounting magic.
Harper got $9.9M and Strasburg got $15.1M guaranteed. Those deals were both MLB deals, though, that included money over time. The straight bonuses were $6.5M and $7.5M, respectively. Some of the guaranteed money ended up being their MLB salaries in the first years of their careers, whereas anything Rutschmann and others who have signed for straight bonuses will be additional payments.
