Does anyone think Richie Martin is an answer?

I like his glove.
He has been basically overmatched in his under 300 ML abs, but there has been some improvement.
He has a little pop. Great speed. His offense at AA in 18 was good to believe he has more to offer with the bat than we've seen so far (and with more development).
Likely a utility type at best....but wouldn't be totally shocked to see him produce at AAA.

MASN: Martin made big improvement in second half; what does that mean for 2020?

It means AAA
Right.
The "big improvement" came in a SSS of 111 PAs.

AAA is the obvious answer. He gets to play there everyday and attempt to earn his way back.

I don't understand why the O's seem so intent on keeping him with the big club. It seems pretty clear that he isn't ready.
Good news! I saw a dog today.

I don't think they are intent on keeping him in the Majors. There is an outside / unlikely chance he sticks to start the year as a utility guy, but I think he's going back to AAA to play everyday.

Good, that's the best approach.

Elias stopped just short of saying they were sending him down.
He needs to spend a year in AAA, to continue to develop.

I think Martin may have a decent shot to make the OD roster. I do think the Orioles sign a veteran shortstop, but unless they plan to utilize Sanchez as the back up SS, there is no one ready to fill that role. Valaika played there last year, but defensively he was awful.

I agree. Valaika and Urias were both pretty bad and no one else on the roster really fits. Of course the metrics didn't love Martin in 2019 either, though his reputation said he was a good fielder I think.
