Seems like they did well. Honestly, I liked Rutschman and Gunnar so much the rest is kind of gravy. A little surprised it was so college heavy, though that jives w/incorporating more advanced analytical models. Would playfully have loved Song stationed at Norfolk.

Got a Gunnar and a Cannon.
And now a Hammer.
They're just drafting cool names, now.

I think I might start using Bobson Dugnutt as an alias.

7 out of 9 picks today have been college pitchers. I think the O's might have had a strategy for today.

Jensen Elliott, the Orioles' 19th-round pick out of Oklahoma State, was a Freshman All-American on a College World Series team in 2016. Missed most of the next two seasons because of Tommy John, but returned as the staff ace this season.

And only two high schoolers overall, so far after 20 picks.

I think that is going to be consistent in a Elias draft.

Griffin McLarty in the 8th round. Opposite end of the cool name spectrum.
Sounds like a bar tender.

Pretty sure I had Glenallen Mixon in a fictional OOTP league.

Whenever I see someone born in the 90's named Dillon, I always wonder if his parents were trying to name him after Dylan McKay and spelled it wrong.
Anyway, he's a LHP.

That's probably partly where the confusion came from, but I seriously doubt anyone was intentionally naming their kid after this guy:

If Houston Roth becomes a reliever, Thorne is going to have a field day every time there's a call to the bullpen.

We have a clear day three strategy of college pitchers with high K’s, low BB’s. Really like our draft.

Looks like a lot of the most analytically advanced teams are going heavy on college players.

Hopefully that translates into some relief help.

So the Orioles just completed their 40 rounds of drafting - my count on final tally is 33 college, 8 from HS. They selected 16 RHP, 3 LHP, 6 catchers, 7 IFs and 9 outfielders. Just 2 through 33 rounds were from HS and then 6 of the last 7 picks were HS selections.
