Pretty much what I was debating, tend to lean towards the latter especially with HS kids.

Yea I can see this.

Rustchman is different because he played high level college baseball.

BTW, consider that Henderson is still just 17 (turns 18 at the end of June).

So, he went through his HS career usually younger than those in the same grade as him.

He will likely go to Aberdeen and play against older players.  Will be interesting to see how he performs off the bat.

Matthew Allan is there.

Do the Orioles say F it and try and get him signed?

Nope...Kyle Stowers.  OF from Stanford.

MLB.com and 2080 basically had him ranked where he was drafted (they had him in the high 70s).

BA had him 102.

Loftus had him 200th though.

Doesn't seem like a reach but I don’t know anything about him.

Wonder if Stowers can stay at CF?

Not a reach but likely a pick where they can save a little money.  You have to do it somewhere.

Next pick is 79 tomorrow so could still get Song or someone with real upside.

Hope so with his lack of power (just looking at his numbers, maybe he has more raw).

They said he a lot of swing and miss in his bat.  That's what has held him back.

Luke Siler on Twitter:

“Well, the #Orioles did really really well.

Cornerstone catcher
High ceiling prep infielder
Kyle Stowers, excellent value at 71, bunch of average tools, chance to be a regular.”

https://twitter.com/...759908564062208

Good to hear.

Siler knows his stuff. He's great for O's fans as Baltimore prospects (and Draft) is really his full bag. Tip of the cap, Luke!

Allan is a dream scenario with the first pick tomorrow.

Callihan or Leiter would be nice as well.

Song could drop into that 4-6 round range due to the idea he has to go away for a year.

Orioles have all night to negotiate with whoever they want with this first pick tomorrow.

I would guess they know what Adley is signing for and have a great idea about Henderson.

Stowers will likely sign for under slot.

So, you know what you can do and how much you have.  Basically can give Allan's agent a call and say, we will give you X amount, does that get it done?

How the Orioles maneuver their next two picks, specifically, will be very telling about the rest of the top 10 rounds. If they take a shot down the field with pick #79 or #108 (more likely #79, of those two) then we will see a very underslot-heavy remainder of the draft.

If Henderson will sign for full slot (1.77M) or require more might also be a factor in how the next few selections play out.

Allan is a dream scenario with the first pick tomorrow.

I wouldn’t have an issue if they take some big arms with reliever upside.

They can be lower signability guys but also can have a big impact.

Go spend on this next pick. Getting a guy like Allan, another top 15 talent, would be huge.

Give me the elite potential guys over several average guys.

Allen would be really big here. Personally I really want Leiter. Just cause I've followed him a bit the last couple years, and I think he's going to be a good one.
