Tate is the right handed version of Tanner Scott.  When they are good they can be overpowering, but there are too many times when they have complete meltdowns.

I have doubts about either of them having long term success.

Reliever Dillon Tate will begin the season on the injured list after straining his right flexor/forearm in November. The explanation for why he isn’t pitching in the World Baseball Classic.

Tate could be out for the first month, Elias said, after the right-hander appeared in 67 games last season and posted a 3.05 ERA and 0.991 WHIP in 73 2/3 innings.

“He’s doing very well but will not be appearing in Grapefruit League action until very late, if at all, and he will almost certainly start the season on the IL and miss most of, it not all of April,” Elias said. “But we expect him back toward the end of April or the early part of May at this point in time, and that’s going well.”

Tate downplayed the significance of the injury and its impact on the start of his season.

"Not really too disappointed about it," he said. "It's one of those things where it's just part of the game and I get better when I get better and I'll be ready to go when it's time to go."

That's a bummer.  Maybe explains the Givens pickup a bit, since they knew about this in November.  Would've liked a better addition than Givens, but there really weren't a lot of obviously better options out there as FAs once you moved down from the top couple closers.

Gave up a run on two hits and had two strikeouts in his first rehab appearance for Aberdeen last night. Heading to Bowie next for ~4 appearances.

Awesome, he'll be a huge addition if he can match last year's effectiveness.

Got some time to figure it out but I wonder what they do when Tate and Givens are ready to go. Hard to see Perez not being one of the 2 moves.

Voth has pitched better lately.  I also think Perez will be a tough DFA.  He bought some rope last year.

I would not be surprised to see a phantom injury or two.

Numerous guys have options. Perez and Voth do not. So if the Os are gonna be done with them they are likely done done with them. Unless they clear waivers and accept an assignment.
