A lot of mystery of what was wrong with Tate last year. He's not a dominant back end guy, but he's a very solid middle guy. Hopefully he's healthy.

Forearm/elbow injuries that take an entire season to heal are always ticking time bombs.

If healthy Tate would be a nice addition to the BP.  He was missed last year, especially in the playoffs.

Hasn't been completely terrible, but the stuff hasn't looked good and he's been handled with baby gloves.

I think what got Tate was the need for length in the pen, and the fact he has thrown back to back games.  He is not back where he was but has gotten better with each outing.  

He is 1-0, 2.84 ERA and a 1.03 WHIP.  I do agree he has been handled carefully.

He'll clear waivers and remain in Norfolk, then be non-tendered in the off-season.

He's still got options so maybe someone claims him, options him and hopes he can recover, but seems like a long shot and he's still owed like a quarter million dollars this year which I think keeps everyone away.

Surprised to see his Norfolk numbers since his demotion just prior to the break. He's been really effective in 9 appearances. But lots of rest between outings, so seems like he's still not available enough to be useful even if the results could be there.
