Good to see. The Orioles are long over due to have a star pitcher, come through the system. Some one has to break the drought. Go get them Grayson.

I don't think he's pitched since April 18th. What's up? It doesn't take 2+ weeks to drive from Delmarva to Frederick
BA added him to their top-100 prospects in the interim, so that's good.
He's struck out 28 of 63 batters faced so far this year. Swinging strikes on 18% of his pitches.

Skipping starts here and there to spread him out for the full season. He's on a rough pitch count for the year.

@SALnotes
“GrayRod through 3, 90-94 (96), a lot of 91-92. Downhill, control over command. A few at the belt got hit hard.
A nice tight slider 84-88, looks like a cutter in the higher bands and a high 70's hook with good depth and terrific bite when he gets on top.
Also a low 80's change”
“An excellent arsenal.
I love the athleticism and the balance/coordination for a big man. Not a lot of effort. Some inconsistencies with release point but that's to be expected.

Wasn’t he supposed to be a mid to upper 90s type arm?
Looks like he was 93-94 (t96-98) at some point in HS last year. Not sure how velocity fluctuates throughout a season but I haven’t seen any reports that have concerns with his stuff.

Sub linked were two other scouting reports by this scout which were also interesting reads:
https://thedynastygu...yson-rodriguez/
https://videobasebal...yson-rodriguez/
The second guy mentions Scherzer as a guy he thought of as a comp, also Wacha was the comp he settled on.

@KyleAGlaser
"Grayson Rodriguez's fastball is really something. 93-95, dotting both sides of the plate, elevating when needed, late life, getting swings and misses and jamshots. Scout next to me said this is the best fastball he's seen all year. I was thinking similar thoughts."
